1.What to do for severe rusting of the underside especially the front part ?Should I need to get metal sheet cut to fit and gas weld?

the problem areas is the junction where the car's underside metal body is near to the front wheel.it is completely rusted and the mechanic says , it is better to follow #1 as above.

2.while I disengage clutch after shifting gear ,there is a push-pull effect on the car when I press accelerator.IS Clutch got some problem to get completely pulled off to give the momentum to wheel?

It is a Indica DLE.

Deepclutch, your car seems to be in need of much bodywork.
Instead of cut-paste jobs do try to get the 'chassis' or members renewed.
This will be a better and safer route.

Heating Problem - Indica

Hello Friends,

I have a 72000 Kms done 2002 Indica DLS. For last couple of years I was facing problem of radiator fan not working at the start of summers, This used to get resolved by changing the thermostat switch. This year also I faced the same issue and I got the switch changed, now the problem is that Fan is working but only after the Temp gauge has gone approx 20% above the center point. As a result of this A.C. trips and on checking with the mechanic I found that time interval between successive running of 2 runs of the fan is 6 mins and it runs for almost 2 mins. I checked with the mechanic and he told me that it could be due to radiator blockage, I got that cleaned and still the problem is as it is. Now the mechanic is saying the only option left now is to replace the Gasket in the engine head, I am not sure about this so any advice provided by you on this will be of great help.

Thanks !

well, you mentioned that it used to get resolved by a thermostat switch. Why not replace it again - may be the one you got is faulty. In any case, replacing the gasket should be the last option - i dont know how that will help as it is the cooling that is faulty - not the engine.

I replaced it with the switch which was on other Indica and even after that problem stays. Regarding the Gasket, Mechanic told me that there are small holes in the gasket which help in circulation of water within the engine and as per him these holes get blocked permanently due to coolant or other particles. So he said that due to that blocakge water is not circulating fully, I am not sure that what he said makes sense or not.

If the fan was ON permanantly, while the engine was heating up more and more, i would agree with the mechanic. But, here, if I understood right, the fan is OFF when the temp guage moves over the 50% mark - when it should normally have triggered ON.
If that is indeed the case, there is no way an engine repair can help in my opinion. Other experts can comment...

^You meant Engine Overhauling?approximately Rs12000 .Else ,you can go for recon engine from TATA by exchanging the old engine.

Yes you do get replacement chassis' from Tata Motors - these have to be ordered through their TASCs and generally take around a month to arrive. I have no idea how much this would cost and also no idea how one gets the new chassis number incorporated on the RC.

I have a 2003 Indica DLS which has done about 35K Kms. Have several Issues(Rear shocks need to be changed, Engine gasket needs a change, noise from front suspension, etc) & Rattles in the car and would like to show it to a competent mechanic garage. So far TASS & Local mechanics I have given the car to have not been able to bring the car to original glory. Can anyone please provide me contacts for a reliable mechanic/garage in Navi Mumbai?

One pecular problem I have which I need help is when I am driving with AC ON & I have to brake (I usually press only brake till the car slows down and press the clutch only if I feel the car would stall). Now when the car slows down and is about to stall(say I am in second gear and the car has slowed down to 20 KMPH), all of a sudden it automatically accelarates for a second or two. This does not happen when the AC is off. Without AC ON, The car would keep slowing & then stall. TASS says every indica behaves this way, which I feel is crap as the car did not have this problem for the first 3 years
