They aren't charging a lot then, compared to an aftermarket fitment. I was quoted around 42-43 for the unit (not sure if the rear view cam was included in the price). Add 4-5K for the dash adaptor. At a similar price, fitment from the dealer would surely be preferable.

What should be the drain interval for the engine oil , 6 months or 1 year ? I am not much of a daily driver and i expect my Civic to do around 4k in a years time and i got it serviced this month with oil change etc.

HASS has already scheduled the next service for nov but i know i won't be going for atleast 6 months but can i stretch the oil change to a year ?

If running is not much not a problem to strech the service interval to 1year,
HASS will recommend as per their policy irrespective of how much you drive.

6 months is a good idea even if mileage is low. IMO, one year is too much of a stretch in our driving conditions. Having said that, Scorponok did a yearly service, at every 10k, with the first owner and there is nothing wrong with the engine. I will, however, change its oil every 6 months.

@dot; I do about 7,00 pa on each of my cars, and have followed the once a year rule for service and oil change for about 30 years, and have never come to grief. See the case of a chap who was forced to give in his City after three months, raised a stink and got a credit for what his had paid. Even Honda talk of a 5,000km oil change for non-synthetic oils. So at 4,000 pa sumeet is Ok, even by Honda's silly standards. Any half decent oil (API-SF or higher is Ok for 12 months).

I agree. 4000 p.a. is too low a mileage to change oil every 6 months. However he will have to bear the brunt of HASS SA's grim head shakes and mutterings. Last time it happened to me and I had to laugh at him to stop it.

I got my 50K service done yesterday. 40K was in late Feb! That is exactly 6 months for sevicing my car!

I agree, one year is bit of a stretch for servicing unless the running do not justify it. But at least you should go for check ups at regular intervals, not necessarily at HASS, could pay a visit to your regular mechanic.

Warning to those who bought it.

Wasted 2-3 hours yesterday. All credit goes to these cables.

Yesterday morning around 10:30, left for my office but my car refused to start. I knew it can be battery only. But was happy that I have these cables. Being slightly late, most of my neighbors had left for the office.

Requested an uncle who has a Santro. I was not sure because Santro battery is a bit smaller (less AH) but no harm in trying. Connected the cables, no success.

Then my wife thought of calling her friend who has a Maruti Dzire. Thankfully she came after 30 minutes or so. Tried starting my Civic with the cable connected with Dzire's battery. No luck. Thought it is a DZire Lxi, so has smaller battery, may be Dzire Diesel's battery would have worked.

Finally, found another neighbor with a Diesel Innova. I thought, now I can goto the battery shop and get the battery checked/changed and then goto my office. But, even after connecting with Innova's battery, my car did not start.

Now, I thought that either the cables are defective (90% chances) or my car starter has some problem (10% chances).

Finally after wasting 2.5 hours on all this, I called another friend. Went with him to a local garage in his car. Got hold of a mechanic and brought him with a fully charged battery.

Just to check the cables, I asked him to try with my cables first. He tried and the car did not start. To check more on cable, I thought the clips might of lower quality, so asked him to cut the cable and remove the clip. To my surprise, it is such a thin cable. It cannot start ANY car.

He connected the battery with his own cable and Voila, the car started as if there was never a problem. Charges Rs.150/- only.

What a waste of time and energy.

If I was not having these cables, I would have got the mechanic immediately after noticing the problem saving 2.5 hours.

So, guys, just throw these cables (or use the clips to make a better one ???), it is good not to have such cables than having these.

BTW, it was a Amaron Pro battery which lasted 3 years and 3 months.

Jatin,dot,sgiitk,Ace thank you for your suggestions, i guess i could take a call regarding the oil change after 6 months by showing the car to my independant garage and let him decide if the same is to be replaced.

I would like to get something clarified.I got my car's rear brake pads changed last week from my garage.The spare parts shop to whom my garage guy talked to said that the civic's rear pads are interchangable with those of the CRV's.The brake pad box had CRV written on it and they fitted perfectly fine on my civic.I hope there is no issue here fitting the same on the car.The pads are original Nissin and had the Nissin name embossed on the pads below the metal covers.

If they have fitted well, as you say, it should be fine. Anyone knows what is the rear disc size of the CRV, is it same as the Civic?

Those cables don't seem to be capable of taking more than 10 amps ;they'll not work for starters.

I had a set which I bought from Abu Dhabi ; worked really well till I presented it to a local garage for use post 2006 floods

So there is a reason why Walmart and Autozone jumper cables were over 30$ a pair. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, accord (type 2), CRV and Civic have same rear brake pads..I think even the fronts are similar..
