In my understanding, on purchase date you have 2 year guarantee assured, and an option of buying additional two more years. Normally the dealers quote the price for that along with the total cost of the car and since its minor compared to the overall cost, mostly gets ignored.

It is not theoretically free, but may be dealers would have given it away for you to buy the car.

I am not sure about others who bought the new civic, but mine states 2+2 warranty.. and I never paid anything extra above the ex-showroom (plus 51K tax + 24K insurance)

I bought the facelifted Civic too and the 2+2 years warranty is standard and directly provided by Honda. I did not pay anything extra, it may be a new customer friendly initiative by the company in providing this when the new Civic was launched.

Just curious then why do they call it 2+2 if it is free from Honda and why not 4 years warranty ?

Are few things excluded after 2 years ?

I guess the default 2 year extended warranty comes post-2008, it was definitely not there in 2007 when I bought mine. I paid 9.5k, of which I think 8k was for the insurance/ext. warranty and 1.5k went as some commission. Quite a big commission I would say.

I have bought in Feb 2008 and it was free then (i.e. 2+2).... And I think there is no difference in later 2 years.
I once got driver side center locking main mechanism motor replaced as it was creating a strange noise when locked... Prestige Honda replaced it without any fuss and told me that this part actually costs around 8000 rs.
That was only issue I have faced till now and no issues after that, I am very satisfied with extended warranty idea.
I would definitely recommend everyone to buy it if they have not got it for free it is worth spending this much to have piece of mind and I think everyone here knows about spare costs of honda which in on North side

The information in the above posts seem to contradict each other. Or is it that the 2+2 was offered only from Feb 08 ?

Yes that is so. The second 2 years is like the extended warranty that you'd normally buy for other cars - some things would be excluded - should be mentioned in the fine print.

Well, I just found the Exclusive HondaCare Program Booklet in my Honda case inside the car. That confirms that I got the extended warranty at no extra cost.

Immortalz, I imagine the 2 year warranty will be comprehensive. What does the "+2" extended warranty cover, or putting it another way what does it exclude?

The fine print is attached. The only difference between the exclusion lists of the standard warranty and the extended one is "audio system". Figures.

Extra warranty charged extra

When I bought mine in May 2007, I was offered 2 years extra warranty for an additional Rs.8,500/-. I did not take it. So my warranty has expired in two years.

I am in my third year and so far no warranty/accident claims. Hope this continues!

I also have an extended warranty on my 07 civic. Will my services be free or will they have to be paid for? if so approx how much woudl it set me back by? My RS used to cost me 12k for every service. Stupid question i guess.
