In Delhi, obviously your average will always be more. Lower humidity also helps. In Mumbai city, forget about 110, if we can actually reach 25 kmph, we celebrate.

[Civic AT facelift, Oct-2009]
Folks, since 2 days, I'm seeing noticeable knocking while driving over ramps and while parking over the side drain (with car titled towards one side). Yesterday, it sounded almost like the engine was about to stall while parking. During the last few days I did notice some minor/intermittent vibrations seeping into the cabin even without A/C at lower rpms. Had reported this during the 2nd service and had asked them to run a diagnostic scan; SA said they did the scan and everything is fine.

Any inputs?

Maybe due to bad-petrol?

The engine in my AT now at 56K over three years, is still silky smooth.

Ask them to check the engine mounts. Mine are getting replaced under warranty. You might hear a rattle when you go through small undulations on the road and when you cold start the car. You'll also hear rattles when the ECU gets the AC compensation wrong and the RPM dips a bit too much when the compressor comes on.

Could be bad petrol too. Try doing an italian tuneup to make it breathe a bit.

mmm. Thanx. The fact that I get this problem when the car is on an inclination, correlates with possible engine mount issue. Could it be due to fuel pump issues too?

Bad-petrol may not be the case here. In anycase, I have filled up the tank y.day. Will check it out further.

I had a similar issue with my Ikon and the problem was due to ignition coil malfunction. Dont know whats with the civic.

Shouldn't be the fuel pump unless you used some really bad excuse for fuel. Letting it run on fumes (thereby sucking up accumulated dirt) can also cause fuel pump wear and clog the fuel lines, fuel filter and if you are really unlucky, the injectors.

The R18A's engine mounts and the K20Z2's second gear are the most back-ordered parts worldwide on Honda's portfolio. Known issue. *shrug*

I had asked a small rattle near the audio system area in the dashboard to be looked into and rectified. Now I get a call saying that it will cost me Rs 4000 + to do so

Reason cited - removing the entire dash board, will cause ac gas to leak, so ac has to be charged and all put together it costs so much, blah blah.

I have asked them, that's not my problem if Honda designed it that way. I want my problem to be addressed, and asked them to do that. They are clue less. What a shame!!

All this at Dakshin Honda!

It seems to me that some clip is lose which makes some plastics to vibrate and cause the noise. Most probably can be fixed simply. Deterrant is removing / acccessing inside the dash.

Guys advice please.

Is Honda going Skoda way? This is quite a simple fix - I think they put some padding. I got it done FOC.

Now they tell me that they have to discuss with Honda and will let me know by tomorrow.

I will give them that much time, after that I will have to ask Honda is it that complicated to do this and if not why is Dakshin Honda saying so?

My tip? Get it done by a competent ICE shop. They disassemble the dash for fixing aftermarket ICE and they will be able to deal with it, probably much cheaper.

Ooo, comments like these get me all riled up. It's just a rattle inside the damned dashboard! Let us know when Honda A.S.S starts putting fake parts on cars and running engines without oil. Consistently.

Skoda had to work hard and long to get their crap *** reputation. You make it sound so easy!

Touched 155 kmph on the Bangalore - Madras highway - no issues....can go faster, depending upon road, traffic, visibility and alertness conditions.

Many a times turned at over 100 kmph on the Bangalore - Mysore road - the equipment hugs the road like a tank - never a slip, never a moment of fear.

There could be other experiences better than mine.

PS: Complete General Check-up done once in about 90 days.

My guess is, the initial 4000+ they said just means they couldn't locate the issue and they wanted to remove and refit everything (analogous to rebooting a computer). When you asked why 4000+, they just threw something at you (A/C gas charging etc...). I think each dealer will have just a handful expert mechanics. If you know one, your job gets done. See if the panels under the glove box and steering are snugly fit and noise insulating carpet in place.

Whitefield Honda did something similar with mine. I had reported a feeble noise from LHS door (I was probably nitpicking) during 1st service and they tightened the door lock. Now its really tight and is annoying. But if I ask them to rectify it, they would probably say replace the door locks!

Have personally done 197, and consistantly 180s many times. High speed stability is adorable. Fastest cornering was at 140 - that worried me a bit.
