Re: Ford Ecosport : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I have been using 205/65/16 Continental UC6 for about 2 years now. They have significantly enhanced the ride and handling. They also seem robust and I’ve had way fewer punctures with them than the stock tyres. I can see Continental CCAX6 available now, which I would opt for bad roads.

I sincerely recommend the continentals for the ecosport.

I think you are referring to the 16 inch alloy wheels here. I have a 17 inch one and hence have encountered problems with the tyres before. Apparently it has to do with the decreased width of the sidewall in the 17 inch ones.

I will surely read up on the Continental tyres.

Back in September, I had posted about replacing the tyres on my Ford EcoSport, which had then run 40,000 km. After another 10,000 km, I’ve decided it’s time to replace them.

I checked with my regular tyre shop for Goodyear MaxGuard, and they offered Dec 2024 make at ₹7,500 per tyre including GST and Wheel balancing/Alignment. The tyres look new overall—rubber hairs are intact, no signs of wear, and the condition appears fresh with a little dust inside out which I think is normal.

However, I noticed the tyres didn’t have the usual colored tread lines typically seen on new tyres like this:

A few quick questions for the community:

1. Is the absence of colored lines on new tyres normal now?
2. Is ₹7,500 a fair price for 6 month old MaxGuard?
3. Any other things to check or should I go for new manufactured tyres. They are available at 700₹ more per tyre.

Appreciate your insights!
