Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Guys,

The near by shop in Hosur Road Bangalore quote the following price for Earth 1.

185/65 R14 - Rs.4100 per tyre
195/65 R14 - Rs.4500 per tyre

Is this the right price? This is for 2014 I20 Asta.

Ram.

I think this sounds just about right. I bought the Earth 1 185/65 R15 at about Rs.4550 a piece. So, the 14s should be just a couple of hundreds cheaper.

On a side note, why would you got for R14 when the difference is just about 300? Instead you can go ahead with R15 itself. You will be able to find so many cool alloys at a very reasonable price as well.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I'm planning to upgrade the stock tyres of my Ritz VXI to Yoko Earth 185/70/R14.
Any recommendations for where to get the fitting done? And what would be the approximate cost for each tyre?
My stock tyres have run 70k+ kms. So they would hardly fetch any return value.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I am planning to upgrade the tyres for my Honda Brio (55K) on the ODO. Stock tyres are MRF ZVTV 175/65/R14. I got the following 3 quotations on rubber:

1. Michelin XM2 185/65 R14 - Rs.4560/tyre (No further discounts whether I buy 1 or 5) - comes with 3 years warranty
2. Yokohama Earth 1 - 185/65 R14 - Rs 4300/tyre - 5 years warranty.
3. 195/60 R14 is not available with Michelin but only in Yokohama Earth 1 and S drives (if I recall correctly) around 4900/- for each for Earth-1. Does the ride comfort goes down with this configuration and is it recommended?

Experts - please advice.

My car will be delivered next week, and the first thing I would like to do post delivery is change the rubber.

S cross comes with JK elanzo, which in my opinion are no good.

My requirements are the following, in this order:
1. Comfort
2. Wet grip
3. Noise levels
4. Moderate rolling resistance

Can Earth 1 be considered for these requirements, or I should look at other manufacturers?

The only other model that is available in 205/60/R16 in Yoko is db series, I used these in former car for 35k, found sidewall to be on the softer side.

Apart from Yoko, only choice seems to be Conti Max contact 5.

I am coated 6200 for Earth 1, and 7600 for conti MC5.

current users of Earth 1, please suggest and share your views.

Your four parameters are met by Michelin 3st.

Got two yokohama earth tyres installed on my A-star yesterday. Costed me 3400 each with free allignment and balancing.

Just wanted to point out that the one on the right will have the arrows on the outside in the forward direction whereas the ones on the left in the reverse direction.
I couldnt find any left/right mark on the tyres so assuming this is by design.

Sorry for the back to back post, i missed the 30 min deadline to edit.

What type of arrows are you mentioning here?

Generally the arrows (on sidewall) are given on the tyres which are directional. (Called directional tyres). But, what I remember, Yokohama earth series are non directional tyres. So, curious about the arrows you are mentioning. Can you please post a clear photo showing the arrows?

Do not worry. Even If you mount a directional tire backwards (Mentioning passenger car tyres only here) - so that it is rotating the wrong direction - the only problem caused is wet / snow traction. It does not affect wear, pull, dry traction, ride, or any other characteristics.

This is not the case with OTR - Off the Road tyres. Directional OTR tyres should not be mounted in opposite direction, which will result in premature failure of tyres.

Thanks a lot for the answer. I couldn't find anything on the sidewall as mentioned before and even the dealer informed that the tyres are bi-directional but then we Team-Bhpians love over thinking.

The 'arrows' that I was mentioning is basically the tread pattern. In the right tyre the treads on the outside point towards the direction of rotation whereas the ones on the left tyre is just the opposite

Do not worry. For those who are not familiar with tyres, it can happen. The tyre is a non directional one and be assured that every thing is fine.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Changed my second set of tyres to Yokohama Earth 1 for my Wagon R CNG.
I decided to stay on stock size of 145/80/R13.
The complete set of 4 tyres costed me Rs. 13,200/- including Card Commission, Valves and WA /WB.
All tyres filled with Nitrogen.
My last set- Goodyear Hi Miler lasted 65K and since I was going on a long drive, changed the shoes.

The tyres are comfortable and grippy. Yet, they are super silent. Where Goodyears were screaming at the top of their voice at speeds above 80 kmph, the Yokos are silent and I don't need to crank up my ICE volume.

Thanks! That's great news, that's just when I'll be looking to replace the tires on my Elite i20, and currently there are no tires available in 195/55/R16 except the stock Bridgestone / MRFs. Have the Earth 1's on my Rapid and they're excellent.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Has anyone experienced a perceptible increase in the road noise, after logging a few KMs on the Earth1s ? I can feel mine are more noisier after about 6k KMs. Other than that they run great .

I have run about 17k on Earth 1s on my Corolla and I felt after 10k KMs the noise increased a bit and it is nothing near annoying. I must say I made the right decision of getting these tires.
