Question I have is, what is the difference between Yokohama A drive v/s Earth 1 (stock size R15 175/65). Which one would be better suited for the 2012 Honda City? Please suggest.
Hi, I had upgraded to Yokohama Earth 1 (size R15 195/60) for my Honda City (2011 model) last year. I bought them for 4800 rupees each. Having experienced for about 12 months now, the following are my observations about the tyre:

Pros:

Excellent grip, the first thing I noticed was the uncompromising grip as I was driving back home with the Yokohama(s).

Braking felt slightly better.

Cons:

Lot of road noise.

I felt the ride a little stiffer, probably because I had upgraded to bigger size than the stock one's.

At the end I would definitely recommend Yokohama Earth 1 as my experience so far has been good. But please do check Michelin before making a final decision. I heard Michelin's have a better durability than the Yokohama's.

BTW, big mistake giving the Getz away, BIG.
Thanks. Did not know the Yokohama A Drive was discontinued. So Earth 1 are the only option with Yokohama at this time.

We still do have the Getz. Just love the car after so many years, great handling & ride. Only thing is that, its dashboard is discolored. When asked the ASS people, they said some Getz & Verna models have had this issue with dashboards.

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

I have upgraded to Yokohama Earth 1 tires of size 185/65/R14, for my 2014 Ford Figo 1.4 TDCi. I have shared the experience in.

Upgrading from stock Apollo Alnac 175/65/R14s, after running them for 45,000 Kms. The Yokohama tires are great in terms of improved ride quality, reduced tire noises and inspires confidence when taking corners at speed. Happy with the braking performance too. The best thing is that they come at a price tag of Rs. 4044/tire, which is a great bet, especially when compared to the Michelins which costs about Rs. 5200/tire.

Overall happy with the purchase.

Cheers! Love and Live to Drive!!

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Guys,

I wanted to know from the users of Earth-1 on how long these last ? This will be for my Ertiga and i am looking at 195/60 R15s. My current stock MRF ZVTV have lasted 66K and might go on for another 15-20k kms so my requirement is at least 50K life

Other options i am considering is Michelin P3 ST which i guess will be expensive by more than 1K per piece. so i can squeeze in extra tyre at that cost.

If you maintain right tyre pressure and the wheel alignment + wheel balancing cycle at every 4K-5K (depending on your road conditons) you'll get over 50K on them.

Thanks, this really helps. Checked with local tyre dealer for Yokohama Earth 1 & Michelin XM 2 tyres. Following are the options I was provided:

Michelin XM2: INR 5,800 per tyre
Yokohama Earth 1: INR 4,800 per tyre
Continental CC%: INR 5,300 per tyre
Bridgestone B290: INR 5,400 per tyre

He cautioned me that, one needs to be aware of grey market tyre sellers and that he was authorized dealer for above and had all genuine products.
He confirmed that XM 2s have softer side walls but better ride quality.

I was also told that Michelin tyres have 3 year warrantee while the others come with a 5 year warrantee.

I was also informed that Yokohama Earth 1 tyres are now made 100% in India. The Michelin XM 2 tyres come either as made in India or made in Thailand. Wonder if imported tyres have better quality than the ones manufactured in India or are they identical in terms of quality.

Now need to decide between the options provided.

Which tire size? I had paid 4100 for Earth 1 in 185/65/R14 and was quoted 4800 for XM2 in same size.

For Honda City recommended size is 175/65/R15. All prices quoted to me were for this size of tyre.

I got all 4 tires replaced with Earth 1,exactly 2 weeks ago, at Millivisions, Lalbaug, Bangalore.

Paid INR 4500/- per tyre of size 185/65/R15 (Nissan Sunny XVD)

Please try to negotiate the price, if possible. Thank you!

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

Changed the tyres on my wife's Brio to Yokohama Earth1 on Monday.

Upsized to 185/65 R 14 - 4300 bucks a tyre and 150 per tyre for the old ones.

Car is 4 years, 8 months old and had run 38,900 km.

Was never a fan of the original MRF ZVTV - so a puncture was the ideal excuse to change the tyres!

They seemed to have another 5k of life left in them, but changed as didnt want the missus stranded due a puncture while driving at night and also in the interest of better ride comfort as car is almost 5 years old now.

Initial observations - over a 2km drive:
steering now feels nicely weighted and better, hated the toy car light steering of the brio
very quiet and no tire roar
comfort is on par with how the car was when new with its original tyres I feel.

Overall - while early days - pleased with the tyre and the cost - only other tyre considered was Michelin XM2 - however since car is 90 % driven in city - we felt Earth 1 was more than sufficient.

Order of pics below:

Pics 1 and 2 - removing the old MRF ZVTV
Pic 3 - old MRF ZVTS - they served very well to be honest
Pic 4 - info on Earth 1
Pic 5 - Brio is now new and improved with Yokohama Earth 1

Re: Yokohama Earth-1 Tyres (designed for India)

My EcoSport has GY Assurance tyres with 205/60 R16 as specs and a dealer here in Cochin (Global Tyres) told me about Earth 1s in the same spec which are made in 2016. To my amusement, I cannot find any details about the same tyre on this thread.

The dealer has priced the tyre at 5,850 per tyre. Can anyone throw some light on this.

I'm looking at buying Yokohama Earth-1 185/65/R14 for my Figo. Any authorized dealer near Electronics City (Hosur road) Bangalore?

You will find on their website. However, we don't change tyres that often so i guess its ok to travel a bit

I am using earth1 on ertiga since last 3k KMS and find them VFM.. silent and feels planted.. however attracts stones due to the pattern
