Yes but not necessarily this particular car, but in general he's fond of getting a vintage restored. You know anybody who can help? And what could be the current value of this Hudson? I'm sorry but I really don't have much idea about vintages so it will be really helpful if someone could help.

Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars-dsc018011600.jpg

I was on the other side of the road, and therefore there is only one photo to post.
Unfortunately i have only one pic at the moment. I will go there again soon to get more.

It's a Vauxhall LIX Wyvern (1958-1951).
Monocoque body, 1.4 litre 33 bhp in-line four.
There were lots of them imported into India.

Thanks a lot! It still looks pretty much in a restorable condition.

Ram, I think you meant 1948-51.

And it could be a Velox (6 cyl.) also, unless you look at the engine its usually hard to tell. This post-war 'L' series model was basically a pre-war body with the front and rear ends restyled.

Hi kevin, as people suggested, it is indeed a vauxhall wyvern. Isnt this car located opposite the yerwada bridge lying along with a lot of ambys? well the guy never sells those cars and this one too looks like has come for work at that shop.
Although dont deter from going and enquiring , you never know when you can get lucky.

Stanher: the Velox would've been exiguously rarer in India. I have myself seen and heard several Wyverns in Bombay, no Velox. Typically buyers would go for the smaller engines. 4 instead of 6, and 6 instead of the V8s for American cars.

The car belongs to the garage owner's brother. It was driven down from Bombay in the early 1990s and parked straight there, never moved since.

I tried searching for pictures of this car before i posted, however i couldn't find any picture or reference to it. (it is quite difficult to go through the entire rust in pieces thread to find if a car has been posted before!) Also i was driving and on the opposite side of the road, therefore the single pic.
Its sad that the car is just rotting away.

Agreed the Velox may have been relatively rare, but they certainly did make it to India. I've met/heard of people who've had Velox. The 'L' series as well as the following 'E' series were available (in India) both as the 4-cyl. Wyvern and the 6-cyl. Velox.

There were / are plenty of Velox's in India. The body shell of these Veloxes and Wyverns was identical so you cant tell by looking at a picture if its a 4 or 6 cylinder car.

My father had a 6 cylinder Velox and there is a 6 cylinder Velox with friends family inMarredpally Hyderabad. I think there was one with th Pestonjee collection too.

Yes, the bodyshells also were identical, except that in case of the 'E' series, the cosmetics varied. On the Wyvern, the side-trims were painted over, whereas Velox had them chromed.

Plus Velox had an additional hood ornament below the bonnet badge with 'VAUXHALL' lettering on it, besides of course the badges on either front wing. Here are pics. for reference:

'E' series Wyvern (I'm helping restore a similar car here):

'E' series Velox:

BTW, Wasif, wasnt your dad's Vauxhall a pre-war model? I think I've seen it in one of your old childhood photos.

Also I think DKG's mother's green Vauxhall also was a Velox, if I'm not wrong.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

I think ours was a 47 or 48, basically the pre war model which was carried over after the war till the E series you are restoring was introduced.

I think DKG's mom had a Velox too.
