Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Spotted this E30 BMW 325is rotting at Prabhadevi, adjacent to the Autohangar Mercedes-Benz showroom. The windows were original and the interiors seemd to be in quite a good state.

@ Rosso: She's been there from looooong looooong time. I'm surprised that she's not crumbled for the time that she's been lying there. The owners refuses to part with her.

Does the owner intend to restore her at some point? or is he hoping she will fetch a better price as soon as these become classics or vintages? Its sad that some people have a 'dog in the manger' attitude.

Of what year would this model BMW be? And if this engine was running with this body condition what would be its worth? Would somebody care to name a price off hand?

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

@Kevin: I certainly wish that owner had some bloody sense about this beauty. The building that this 2 door beauty is parked in is under renovation & this the first car that you see as soonest you enter the driveway. I just hope that some construction materail doesn't get to her before the owner wakes up...

This wouldnt really qualify as a classic, but is definitely an import so can be moved to this thread instead:

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Man, what a heap! I don't know if pics of this car (and in this state in particular!) have been posted already, but I was mortified when I saw her, in the flesh, this afternoon. I've known a few of these here in their prime, and the fact that this could indeed be one of those (since they didn't come to our shores in large numbers to start with) makes it more painful. I'm sure many of you can guess what this muscle was called before atrophy set in!

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

This is a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
The 30-spoke turbine style alloys are factory originals.

Exclusive to the 1978 & 79 Z28 models were these functional louvers in the front fenders and the simulated air induction scoop in the hood.

However, the 1979 Z28 had unique ground effects bolt ons for which even the holes aren't there on this battered heap.

So I'm sure it is a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

@ Ram, spot on in identifying the Camaro! As expected, I've been contacted by a few already, regarding the car's whereabouts, and I've told them too. However, in order to avoid fielding more enquiries individually, here're the coordinates for whoever else is interested: The Camaro is standing at the Sector 16, Noida car market in front of Veerji da Dhaba! All the best!!

OMG!! What happened to that camaro? Whatever it was, i think its not been too many years since she has been reduced to rubble, as the tires on it are JK Brutes, not a very old pattern!

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

What actually happened to that Camaro .....is it a victim of the film industry.

Any idea if the engine and other stuff is intact or even available.

Its a pity to see that there is a strong tendancy for great cars to be even greatly neglected in India. The Alfa and the Lancia come to mind amongst others

Hi, would you believe that Mumbai had two similar condition Camaro's in Mumbai, one at Juhu Tara Road, the other at Chakala. Both were scrapped. The filmywalla at Goregaon had one first generation Camaro which he converted to a Targa topped car and let it rot.
As far as I know only one silver coloured camaro was destroyed in Bollywood, systematically demolished by Amitabh.
This car probably ended up like this because of a dispute with the mechanic, or was abandoned. If Bollywood were to be responsible, even this much would not have remained.

harit (no cheers for this)

This must be that one at C.Park (not disclosing the full name) P.S.

Pics. of it had been posted before but the car wasnt fully visible due to wild growth/all kind of junk around it.

Very sad, looks like it was once a v.original car, now it appears that even the chassis has collapsed! A pity it had to land up in this police 'impound' (if you could call it so)
