| ![]() I recently picked up this Daimler Benz sales brochure from the 1950s advertising their passenger car models. Apparently, these were kept in Mercedes Benz showrooms and given to potential customers as handouts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Am not a WhatsApp person and hate the forwards being sent with mobile constantly popping up with messages... But got one interesting forward from my Dad. The quality of advertisements were laudable that it stresses every aspect of the car, rather than a celebrity based ads now. Enjoy the pics..... Interesting Facts: - Contessa Booking Advance carried 13% interest - Cant believe Ambassador, Fiat and Standard Herald were having almost similar pricing - HM Studebaker 23/24 miles per gallon - Didn't realize HM had so many variants before Amby, Studebaker, Landmaster, Contessa. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Fantastic eye opener. An era where car makers paid interest on the advance paid! Something that the current crop should adopt. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() If we assume 8% inflation per year, these are the ex-factory prices in today's money. Hindustan Landmaster in 1955: Rs. 14.95 Lakhs Fiat 1100 in 1956: Rs. 13.67 Lakhs Hindustan Ambassador in 1972: Rs. 6.63 Lakhs Premier Padmini in 1972: Rs. 6.24 Lakhs Standard Herald in 1972: Rs. 6.47 Lakhs Hindustan Contessa in 1985: Rs. 11.8 Lakhs Going by the last scan, on-road price seems to be approximately 50% more than ex-factory price.
