There's certainly a likeness with a Hillman's (Minx Mk IV to VIII) posterior! And for posterity, the Minx's backside had rapidly outgrown itself too by 1955!!

Having said that many cars of the era had similar lines. Not only amongst the Rootes Group and other British makes but with quite a few non-British cars as well. Ram has shown us the likeness with the BMW 501 and 502. I find the Mercedes 300 sedans of the period (the Adenaeurs) to be very very close in design, tip to toe, other than the scale factor. The glasshouse and pillars are the most striking.

Btw, the late actor, Mr. Ashok Kumar (Dada Moni) used to have a Daimler Century. Mr. Kumar had sold it long ago. The car was subsequently acquired by a Delhi-based dealer a year or two back, and sold on too soon after. So don't know where she's now.

Ashok Kumar also owned a Riley in the 1950's. I'll post the exact model name after verification.

This Riley was owned by a wealthy Parsi family in Hyderabad, then sold to fellow TBHPian V Sukumar. He completely restored it (in the 70s I presume), then sold it to a hotel owner, who in turn sold it to Ashok Kumar. Somewhere along the way it went to Thakker's collection in Pune, and now Im told it is in Kolhapur, yet to be confirmed.

Can someone positively identify this jalopy? Preliminary detective work suggests it is a Fisher body, GM product, probably Oldsmobile.

Hi Karl.

That is an interesting car in those pics. It could possibly be US or Europen in origin.

The interesting part is the opening rear quarterlight. Never saw someting like this on mainstreem US cars.

Possibly a low volume US make like Graham or something like it. Any idea whats under the hood, this would help in pinpointing its identity.

That is a Fiat 500C, second generation of the original Topolino, the Italian's take on the people's car.
