This MG TC and another vintage car that I cannot exactly identify (Austin or Ford?) appear in the movie "Prince"
The MG is sporting what looks like a Royal no. plate. Both Shammi Kapoor and Vyjayantimala act as Royal family heirs in this movie. And it could have really been a royal family-owned car, as I do recall seeing pics. of one such TC with Jodhpur red plate, in pics. of some royal family collection.
Also the maroon car has the regn. JPA 486- I'm told this is of the Erstwhile princely state of Jammu. Anyone who could confirm? Cedric et al?

This is the famous Fiat Spyder MRX 5689 which has been around in Mumbai at least since the end of the 1970's, in white, in red, now orange and used extensively in movies and ads. At one time she was almost abandoned on the road, near Churchgate. I am not very sure if this was the same car that was offered as a prixe in the "Wills Made For Each Other" contest.

Cheers harit

'just found this song from a 60s Hindi movie "Do kaliyan" on searching. Main reason why I wanted to see it was because of this blue-ish grey mk1 Herald that appears briefly in it!

Also a mk1 Amby; both cars happen to be under repair. Although in the song it appears as though the scenes are in some North-Indian town (where shops have even English names/headings like "general stores" written in Hindi) the MYR regn. on the Amby plus MY/ME regn. on the cars seen in the movie suggest that it was shot in Bangalore. Biswajeet (the lead hero) in this movie also drives a lovely 2-tone (white with dark green roof) Fiat 1100 Delite in this movie. And Mala Sinha drives a sky-blue VW type 3 saloon in the beginning.
In another scene there is also this equally lovely dutone blue and white mk1 Herald and a Pennant partly seen briefly, which I'd uploaded earlier in another thread I think.
Note the cool period chrome headlamp hoods on the Amby- anyone knows if these are still available?

The 1967 classic "Jewel Thief", has a song showing this lovely blue and white classic - What car is this, a Caddy ? Thunderbird ?
Tanuja, resplendent in a saree and lovely jewellery, has serious serious competition !!

That beauty is a Chevy Bel Air, 55/56 I suppose. A very memorable sequence in the movie.

Pics of the car in current state were posted earlier, here they are again

I do hope it will be restored soon and restored well. Any guesses for who owns it?

Uh, ravi, assuming you're talking about Tanuja in this song alone, I do know Bombay is very very cosmopolitan....but I'm sure junta there do know what a Saree looks like. And she is not in a Saree (or even jewellery!) in any part of this song, as far as I could see...hehe:

Our own harit of course! Nothing to guess, as it was mentioned when these pics. were posted earlier. I remember him mentioning the car had gone to Gujarat from B'bay, then finally he had tracked it down in Goa and picked it up from there.
I too hope we get to see it once restored.

What I meant was, that in many parts of the movie, she does wear lovely sarees and jewellery !

Here is a still shot from the movie 'Jabse Tumhen Dekha Hai' with a Pontiac cabrio making for a perfect backdrop. The photo was on display at the Auto Expo, part of Farhan Kidwai and Sandeep Katari's super collection
