Cheers harit
From the bumper, headlights and rear window it could be a 1962-63 Bug and doubt any parsees to be in Karachi around those time frames. There is a possibility they might have visited Pakistan and clicked a picture with the owner of the beetle who might be in Pakistan.

Including the Bhandara family of the famous outfit named Murree. Brewers and manufacturers of delectable milk shakes, fruit juices and syrups!

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Found these pics. somewhere on facebook. The Fiat in the Delhi pic. seems to be a Delight, and those seem to be the old Harley Phatphatis on the left. 'wish the pic. was taken closer!

The other two are of Bombay. The Fiat 1100 (BMF 6721?) seems to have the rear bumper painted white- noticed this in many 'old-gen' cars in Bombay in old pics./movies- rust problems?

Not only syrups.... but the famous Murree Lager and Classic beer, which was and still is the core business.

The Bhandara's also had some very nice cars, amongst them a 1968 MGB GT.

However as far as the picture of the Beetle is concerned, my own feeling is that these people are not Parsis, this of course is just my feeling.

A Sindhi family perhaps?

A couple of pics from a set titled "Once Upon a time in Karachi", one featuring a Herald.

Howdy Alvis!

Greetings!

Here's an interesting news article on the syrups, fruit juices and nectars from Murree strengthening the bubbly spirit between the neighbours

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/b...ntenttarget=no

If I try a bit, I can make this post look less Off Topic by adding something automotive, in a contrived fashion (not referring to your info on the Bhandara's '68 MGB GT, lest you think so - this is an ode to some others) but then, this whole thread has been taken OT and modified from what it started out as, so what the heck!

Have a nice day, n cheers!

Prabal

Aww.. On behalf of all of us, Thanks !!

Here's another vaguely automotive pic, posted in a contrived fashion, but nostalgic enough to escape detection :
A pic from Murree Hills, Cherat, Undivided India circa 1940

Any guesses on the make of the vehicles?

A Ford model A in the center?
Is that a Hillman behind the Civil and Military Bus?

Ford Model A roadster seems like it, alright. The one peeking behind the 'Civil and Military Bus Services' bus seems large for a Hillman, even for a Hillman 20. Or any of the other Rootes stables member for that matter. It also looks more American than Brit to me.

My thought at first glance was a Packard 120 or 8 - 'coz the hazy angular outline of the radiator grille looked like one, and I also seemed to detect the fluted bonnet of the marque. But now I'm not sure - these eyes now see things that the mind can't even imagine, it often transpire later! And then on second thoughts, how about a GM/Chrysler Corp. product? The thick B pillar would make me think so.
