The Vidhana Soudha was completed in 1956. Considering the trees in front, I would like to hazzard a guess that this picture was taken in the late 1950's.

Thanks

So much information on the back of the photos!

For a bit of trivia, this car's a later mk2 Herald, identified by the broad C-pillar on the roof. So in the first photo (dated 1967) it would've been brand new. Although funnily it seems to have both wipers missing!
And it seems to have the add-on accessory chrome bumper on the front, which has already been painted black, as are the bumperguards.

I am presuming the car was black although the interior certainly wasnt red.

Another picture of Herald MRA and Pascal with D'Souza, Saby, D'Costa and Benedict. They are at an old Church in Madh Island. Does this structure exist?

That aside. I remember as early as 15 yrs ago they had a huge stockpile of Dolphin Parts which they literally gave away to the Bhangar wala, I am sure till this date they would have interesting catalogs and brochures of the car. Toady in its place stands an APE dealership still run by the Gohils.
Yes dear, you are right they had almost zero knowledge in automobiles.

They had accidently hired a full fledged cheat head mechanic named Satish Vashi, he claimed to be a specialist in SU carburettors setting
which he claimed no one knows.

He later vanished and started working for another second dealer of Dolphin car in mumbai on 3rd road khar namely Elite motors, which started with a big bang and closed shop in less then a year.

Satish later started working out of a small building garage in bandra.
After many years someone told me that he was killed by some one and his body was found lying in a car.

But we soon got fed up because of worst service back up by Gohil Motors, who was interested in only selling them and no service backup was givenby them.
We had brought it brand new in 75000/-, and sold it in 1991 for 38000/- in non running conditioin.

My son today is a MBA and is happily married and is working in JP MOGAN

re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Hi everyone, i had posted a picture of the queens visit to India in the classic rolls royce thread and have another picture with similar background which iam posting here (because that was not a rolls royce and this might not be either!). It has a couple of gentlemen i dont know, maybe somebody can identify them as well as the car of which just the folded hood and tail fin is visible?
Pardon me if this is being posted in the wrong place, could not think of any other place to post it in.

Thank you,

Srinand.

re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

I'm still hunting for MMB2851 as shown in this picture taken around 1979... and BMF6061 (sold in '78). If I can find either car, I'd be interested in buying.

A superb assortment of older pictures from the vintage and classic scene from the 60s and 70s can be seen here. 5 stars from me!

Well no idea abt the gentlemen in the car.But the car is most likely a 1954 ,Dodge,Plymouth,Desoto or a Chrslyer as all these cars had the same body shell .

Hi! Please check for Chrysler, similar to Nitin Dossa's car, the rear may be similar.
During the trip of the Queen, she was driven around in a better car, and Prince Philip in a lesser car. So in Mumbai, she moved in a convertible Buick Roadmaster, he is a convertible Pontiac. Here she moved in a Daimler, he in a Chrysler (most likely).

Cheers harit
