a query on road tax in Karnataka. Is it same for Petrol and diesel vehicles. Some one today told me that they are different!

I think its different, as per my knowledge the taxes are calculated based on Engine CC, weight and lenght of the car.

The rates have increased by 2% , 1% on account of VAT and 1% Road tax.

My wife got herself a new i10 automatic. She did the test drive, negotiation, documentation and delivery all by herself. In between I was called to check out the machine. Will post a review once I reach India (currently traveling in the USA). This is the second car and first one is a Baleno.

Dealer here indicated an approx Corporate Discount of 5-10K. I didn't negotiate seriously. Just asked.

HMP Chennai asking me to pay full price to get the allocation. Based on my reading in this thread, if I book I should be getting a VIN number in few days, couple of weeks to get the car in dealers stock yeard , then do PDI, pay the full amount before Registration.

I don't mind paying but if there are other dealers who don't ask for full price, not sure. I know i20 AT would be order to made, but don't understand why they push for full price within a week of booking.

I have weird habit :D of taking photos of my cars right from the stockyard of dealers(Same with my Toyota Innova).Here,I took photos from the stockyard of Chowgule Maruti of my Ritz Vxi.Registration is not yet done but will happen on 15th April.
