Has anyone ordered through optimumcarcare.net ? Please share your shopping and shipping experience. I think it is the official website of optimum. ONR 1Gallon costs around 40$ and shipping is free on orders over 75$.

@sunnyBoi
How much is that polishing attachment, where did you buy it?

I guess this will trickier to polish due to the higher center of gravity,if one is not careful it may cause more scratches.

So I tried washing car(s) at home with the Karcher 3.550 today, must say i'm mighty impressed with how it cleans!

Our Octavia hadn't seen a pressure wash for over a year thanks to it being serviced by a local mechanic, as a result the wheel wells had accumulated a lot of mud. Out comes the Vario lance, set it to max and 'blasted' the dirt out of all wheel wells. I'm sure there was atleast half a kg at each well

It even dispenses shampoo and thanks to the overall length of cable, once its set up I don't have to move the machine till i'm ready to pack it away. No extension cable, nothing.

3 cars and a bike were squeaky clean in under 2 hours! Light brake dust disappears with the pressure but unfortunately the pressure wash isn't so effective in removing the dust on the inner wheel and heavy brake dust, I had to use a brush to get rid of it.

This is the process I followed:
  • Remove dust with the Jopasu Duster
  • Use the Vario spray lance and get rid of stubborn/sticky dust particles
  • Shampoo the car using the attachment provided, setting the vario lance to 'Mix' mode
  • Clean with a wash mitt
  • Use the pressure washer to get rid of the shampoo
  • Dry the car with the water magnet towel

It sounds a lot to do, but a car can be washed in under 30 mins and you'll be very happy with the results in the end!

However, all's not well with my Polo, a laborer lost balance and that resulted in cement spray all over the bonnet as I drove past her. Used the pressure washer to remove the cement but it wouldn't come off. Using a cloth will destroy the paint, but is there any other option ? I removed a small area with MF cloth and just didn't have the heart to go about the entire section.

Here's a video of the dirt blaster and the vario spray lance:

I would not use maximum pressure on any part of your car: it can cause damage. Mine's a Bosch, and the manual warns about this.

I also don't bother to dust the car before pressure washing. I use a low-pressure, wide spray, at a narrow angle to the paint work. Imagining that you are "blowing" the dust away probably gives the picture.

On a cool day, I just spray (using a hand sprayer) the car with a car-shampoo solution, let it soak in for a few minutes, and then swish it all around, and off, with the pressure hose. Some stubborn marks or bird excrement may need more, but I try to minimise cloth/mitt/brush contact. In summer, this doesn't work as it will dry as soon as it hits the car.

Yes, my Bosch does have a shampoo attachment, and even a car-wash brush to use with it, but I'm not impressed with it, and find my simple method easier. Except in hot summer.

Full-pressure jet takes chunks out of my concrete drive

Shashank : I ve heard that soaking in vinegar will help loosen the cement.

Congrats, thats a very useful kit. Please share the prices and where you bought them. I too have a Bosch drill, but could not find the Megs DA power system.

OT: What is RX165 in your signature? Is it with an increased bore?

Thanks

Thanks Thad, I went through the entire manual and apart from the 'dirt blaster' accessory there were no warnings. Will definitely go through the manual again.
