They recommend a top up with another wax like collinite, will do that tomorrow if I'm not feeling lazy
Wow,how is it working for you in the long run?Not sure what is a cleaner wax but are you sure it is a sealant like DG 105?

Option 1
1. Wash with Duragloss No Rinse
2. Apply DG 105

Option 2
1. Wash with DG No Rinse
2. Clay using a Meguiar's Clay
3. Apply DG 105

Option 3
1. Wash with DG No Rinse
2. Apply Klasse AIO (I am told it does the job of a clay bar as well as a sealant)

I don't care about shine as my car is already too shiny. I am trying to protect the paint from the elements.
The process of washing, claying, compounding, polishing and finally applying a sealant is what you'll need to do to ensure your paint surface stays protected.
Each process forms a very important role in achieving superb results. How you 'prep' the surface determines how well end results turn out. If you are going to be using ONR/Water to wash your car, I'd recommend you clay the car to remove bonded contaminants prior to applying a polish and paint sealant.

Claying ensures that a lot of contaminants which are stuck, and which cannot be gotten rid of with a wash are safely removed from the surface without any damage to your paint. It leaves the surface 'smooth as glass' before the polish and sealant go on.

I'd recommend you buy Meguiars clay bar kit. You'll mostly get 2 pieces, which can be cut in half and used for a detailing session.

You're process will be something like this:
Wash the car with water or a No rinse wash with DG
Clay the car using meguiars clay bar and megs quik detailer
Wipe the residue left behind after claying with a clean MF cloth folded four-ways
Apply a polish if you have one
Finally apply a paint sealant (DG 105)

You can layer the paint sealant by applying a second coat 12 hours after the first coat. This will give much better protection and shine to the paint surface.

Klasse AIO is a All-in-one product mostly used as a polish before the Klasse sealant is applied.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Thanks a lot Shashank.
I cant wait for the Meguiar's Clay Bar to come from UK. My options are limited to either a clay bar available online at http://www.autofresh.in/default/inst...20-23295733777 or a Pre-Wax Cleaner available at http://www.carkhana.com/index.php/mu...-cleanser.html.
Do you know anything about these?

Secondly, why do I need a polish? My Car is only 9 months old and I guess the 3M Paint Sealant hasn't completely worn off. Neverthless, I have Amway Car Polish Lying around or I can pick up a Sonax Car Polish.

Last but not the least, I can apply DG 105, wait for it to haze and buff off and that completes the process? I don't understand the curing time bit.

I'm sorry,I can't comment on those products as I've never used them. If you clay your car, it'll remove all layers of sealants and polish previously applied, a polish when applied before a sealant helps get rid of any traces of polish which may be left behind and also helps hide the swirls and other paint imperfections.

Once you haze and buff off the first coat, you can apply a second layer of DG 105 after waiting 12 hours,to enhance the protection.

If you are short of time

a) Wash (ONR / Shampoo)
b) Clay
c) Sealant

Polishing works to rejuvenate the top layer (clear coat), smoothing tiny scratches and swirl marks with fillers, and restoring the paint’s deep vibrant color. If your 9 month old car is free off swirls you can skip this (although not recommended) and jump directly to sealant.

Since sealants contains polymers they need to bond to the clear coat to give you a more shinier and blemish free appearance. More importantly they'll form a layer over the coat to prevent any pollutants from embedding inside the coat.

Besides if you ain't gonna apply wax over the sealant there shouldn't be any problem with curing time. All you do is buff it and just let it sit overnight and its done.

Regular maintenance will only require ONR and jopasu.

Thanks Arup. The only Clay available in India is by a brand called "Instafinish". It's an American brand but unheard of.

I am thinking of going with Finishkare 215 instead of DG 105 as FK 215 has a polish in it so I won't need to use a polish separately. Is FK215 a good product? http://bringingbest.in/index.php?rou...tegory&path=75

If you guys still insist to go with DG 105, which is a decent brand of polish I can buy? I have seen Sonax at Shell Bunks and I think DG also has some polishes but I am trying to cut down the cost as it is now going thru the roof. Which one of these can be used as a polish http://bringingbest.in/index.php?rou...tegory&path=68

Last but not the least (and I promise no more questions after this), which and how many applicator pads do I need? http://bringingbest.in/index.php?rou...tegory&path=25

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

just stumbled on the price list for Steam and Shine. http://steamandshine.in/price_list.html. The only hesitation on my part is the use of steam to wash out the car's exterior. Though they categorically claim on their website that it won;t cause any harm, has anyone tried it out before?

Haven't used it but read reviews about it on detailingworld. Don't think it would much of an issue. Go ahead with it.

Havent used Finishkare either but I still think a proper paint sealant is much better than an AIO. You can always space out your buying. For now you can apply the sealant directly after claying and if you need a warm shine post that you can use sonax or collinite carnauba based wax.

Suggest you first just experience the sealant before buying other wax / polishes.

DG comes with 1 applicator pad itself (free) so no need to buy more.

Placing order for DG 105 at BB Impex Now. Already have DG Rinseless Wash. Will buy the Clay that I mentioned. I still want to polish. Please suggest a polish brand.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Is there any tyre shiner in the market that is not comprised of foam?

I miss the previous tyre shiners which were spray liquid and was easy to use.

I found the current foam-based quite ineffective in comparison

P.S: I am obsessed with my car's tyres looking JET BLACK at all times

You will get Eagle One liquid tyre spray in Reliance Autozone. I have not used this and hence do not know if you get Jetblack matt finish or Glossy finish.

Earlier I had 3M liquid tyre shine which produced Jetblack finish, but lasts only a week and hence donot recommed this.
