Hello Namojain , if you decide to go with jeep clinic's hard top please do not pay this individual any money until the job has been done in full . I would go as far as not dealing with jeep clinic at all as a lot of customers have had serious issues with this person/manufacturer .

Thanks for the word of caution man .

No, I aint planning to go with jeep clinic. I’m in Meerut(U.P.) and they are based in Coimbatore.

Although I’m planning to for a sheet metal hard top(non removable) by Azad 4x4 (based in Tronika City, Ghaziabad).
Havent read much about Azad 4x4 on this forum (probably because they are just 8 to 9 months old).
Had visited their facility a couple of days back and was quite impressed with the kind of modifications they are doing on Thar.
Will be uploading the pics soon.

You can place their page on Facebook, also attaching a link to their website http://www.azad4x4.com/products.php?id=156

Do share your thoughts.

Azad's doing pretty well . They have a couple of designs for hard metal tops to soft ones . The work that they have done as of now seems brilliant as far as quality goes . I haven't seen their work in person however their pictures do look enticing .You can also have a look at the new hydrabad hardtop from Prabhu mars . They are good too .

This Thar belongs to Sunny Sidhu a rally champ and the hard top is made by himself. It is made in sheet metal.

What advantage would a sheet metal HT have over conventional one's?

None. By 'conventional' the assumption here is plastic/fiber tops vs sheet metal.
They can be equally bad or good on the same criteria (fit, finish, workmanship, warp, cost, weight). YMMV.

Re: The most practical & best looking Hardtop - Mahindra Thar

On the contrary I am not very impressed by the quality of work and materials supplied by AZAD 4X4.

He did a lot of work on my friends Thar two months ago, and the result was poor.

Hi desertfox,

Could you please give us some details as to what kind of work did your friend go for and what exactly were the things that you didn’t like?

It will be a big help as I’d quite made up mind to go to Azad when my jeep arrives.

Thanx.

What or whose work are you talking about. Please specify.

Edit: just saw the previous posts and now it is clear. Request you to please use quotes to make the context easier to understand.

But guess it's not so bad after all cause from what I have seen azad4x4 openly claims that "bling" and "pimp" is their forte. So guess customers have more options for whatever appeals to them.

Mr Chadha,

Please put up prices for your various hard top designs. Transparent pricing would go a long way in helping people choose between the various hard top options for the Thar.

Cheers,

Jay

Re: The most practical & best looking Hardtop - Mahindra Thar

Even I did consider the Thar.

This is what i have worked out.

please be free to add anythings.

The price for the Thar crde on road in Bangalore is 8,95,000 till I had last found out.

The price of the hardtop I think will work out to somewhere near 1 lakh, which is quite a lot, considering there is no guarantee how long will it last.

We all know the advantages a hard top offers but its long term reliability is a big question mark. Also what are problems associated with a hardtop? Can someone please highlight.

Further customising the vehicle wil rear front facing seats I think will set me another 50 k.
Again this may be associated with rattling noises if the fitting isn't perfect.

So in all I am looking at 10.5 if I am buying a Thar.

HT should be about 60-70k max. Another 10k max for the front facing seats.
