Re: Scoop! Mahindra Thar Facelift spotted testing

So, I've a booked a new Thar (24th is when the vehicle is billed and 10-15 days for the vehicle to arrive to Chennai as per my SA). I have also paid a significant amount already (long story for another thread). Given the expected June date, I am not going to be getting the new Dash. So:

1) Given that a ton of my money is already in the Dealership's bank, do I even have an option to think about any changes?
2) If I do have an option to think about the change, is it really worth the wait (If my anxiety towards waiting for the vehicle were an itch, I'd have a whole in my body)?
3) I saw someone hoping that the new Dash would be an accessory. What are the chances of that?

Thanks & Cheers.

There are a few changes like the seats and the rock sliders which should be good.
But beige interiors in the Thar, really??

1- One can always cancel booking, or insist for the new lot.

2- If you are particular about interiors yes, if not haggle for a discount for the current. I would do the latter.

3- Anything is possible, but may not be worth it. Nope i personally don't think this is going to be offered as an accessory, if you are particular you can modify with a bit of tinkering.

Some good amount of improvements on the dash, gear lever and other controls. Steering now looks same as the boleros.

Exactly. Form the picture it appears that it might be a fully functional handbrake, but needs to be confirmed.
Wonder how much the cost is going to rise on account of these additions.

So painful to see this. These changes are really refreshing. I even asked my dealership if there is a change coming..They had no answer. Bought mine in the first week of January. A little wait could have helped me. This is a mega step up from the black interiors available so far. So so angry.

Just wondering how much would be the price difference?? Is this model costlier??

Thanks so much Jaggu for the diamond-cut precision of your answers. I will start haggling for a discount.

@Sanket, i bought mine before excise duty hike (in November, 2014).
1 - What price did you have to pay for yours?
2 - Was it a 2014 model or fresh piece?

Bro, i have a feeling that our rides will become classic! maybe the new thar has the famed (or defamed) Quanto engine! Who Knows.

BTW,

what color is ur ride?

That's definitely worth waiting for compared to the cut paste job that they have done for the current Thar.

This looks much mature and mainstream.

The person who has shared these spy pictures - Mr. Vijay Tiwari, has confirmed no change in engine options. Hence lesser chances of the 1.5l one. I think Mahindra is loosing a big chunk of customers who want Thar primarily as a lifestyle vehicle, but are not too keen to pay the current price which brings along core off-roading features which increase the price to a relatively steeper level.
