Thank you. Yes sir, the metal sheet is welded in the footwell.
And there are no drain holes in the metal sheet. There is some space on the sides which lets the water escape.

Congratulations I have seem some very cool Gypsies on the Auto Attitudes Instagram page.
Can you share details about the price and legality of your Gypsy?
If it's a 2005 model, won't it be illegal to drive in Noida/ Delhi?

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Sir, my Gypsy is 2005 ex army, registered in 2016. It's RC is valid till 2031. What the authorities check is the RC, insurance and the PUC which I keep with me at all times. Till now, I haven't faced a single issue even though I was stopped once at DND. They just checked the documents and let me go.
And for the price you an PM me

I am no Sir . I sent a message to Auto Attitudes as well, asking them how it was done. They were kind enough to respond and let me know that they use rivets and then use some sort of bond to conceal on all slides.

Your Gypsy looks great. Do keep sharing updates.

Really sorry for the misinformation. I felt the sides were welded to the footwell as I have seen in many other cars.

Thank you for clearing that out

Thanks for your reply. But the rule is on the years of the car , not registration of the car. Hence my question.
Or does it not matter if it's registered in Punjab?
Refer to this (July 2016: NGT tells Delhi to deregister all Diesel Vehicles over 10 years old) thread.

The NGT rule is restricted to Delhi NCR only. As Patiala, Punjab is not a part of NCR, they can issue fitness to ex-army vehicles. This is what I know about this rule.
Please do let me know if you think that there might be some hidden clause in this rule.

Ah! What a lovely sight - those brand new Gypsies lined up to serve the nation, each one of them as tough and resilient as the brave-hearts it will carry over the toughest of terrains for many many years to come! The Army just can't do without the Gypsy, can it?

Imagine a design almost 30 yrs old and still going strong, strong enough to revive orders from the organization that pushes these vehicles to its limits and beyond. Speaks volumes about the robustness of the Gypsy.

On a side note, I was not aware that Army Gypsies come equipped with those additional fogs on the bumper from the factory. Is this a new feature, in addition to those blackout lights and rear tow hooks?

PS - What wouldn't I give to have that lovely olive green color on my Gypsy!!

Besides the look, how do you manage to get in, without even a sidestep?

True that! I wonder about this a lot. Army also had a lot of MM550 NGCS. So why didn't they renew or request more of those? I am sure M&M would have happily obliged. Maybe diesel MM550's drivability wasn't as good as the petrol Gypsy's in the wild?

First and foremost reason - fuel! Petrol is much more usable at sub-zero temperatures, as its freezing point is much lower compared to diesel!

Secondly - Gypsy weighs just about 60% of an MM550 and hence, much more nimble on rough terrain, with lower chances of getting stuck. It just bounces over anything and everything

Third - lower maintenance, being a petrol car
