Raj, don't do the spoa thing till you get a 2nd car ... the taller you make your car, the more unstable it'll become. so using it on highways regularly, will be a little unsafe.

mechanic - i dont know of any who can do this properly - maybe we can get it done from allans place.. he's an expert at these kind of complex modifications..

the mod is not easy, but with someone like allan, you dont need to worry about anything, as he will take care of the minutest details..

I was concerned about this but I have not heard feedback from highway manners from anyone. The bulk of the Gypsy's weight is in the chassis (especially the soft-top) and I don't think the CG shifts too far up by doing SPOA. Will have to check with headers and Khan to be sure.

Allan is the man for this. Love his Gypsy and check out the video where it strolls over the embankment like a Jeep! Superb!

Guys - just noted a split leaf on the front end. Not sure if this can be fixed or if I need to send the vehicle in for warranty replacement.

The bottom leaf of the leaf spring seems to have snapped free at one end. Looks like it is "peeling" off near the mounting point. Let me take a picture to show you the problem. The right front is normal. The left front is affected.

Any ideas?

Sigh...and I was hoping that you guys would say "Oh we see this all the time!"

Alright - I'll ask Sai Svc. to sort this out under warranty immediately. Don't want to miss any OTRs because of this.

Any idea what could cause this kind of failure? I don't think I did any major OTR wheel bashing either. Just a couple of hard thumps here and there. I started to feel something was wrong when the handling got really weird to the point where it felt like the front wheels weren't linked together.

Will update once I speak to the service center.

The front leafs in a Gypsy are very flimsy and have an almost -ve arch. You do any of the flying over bumps etc... and you can expect breakage.

In that case Khan, how can we reinforce the front leafs since the car does take a beating at every OTR. You must have definitely done something about it. Can we add add thicker leafs, will that affect the handling in any way?

Good news is Sai Svc. has the spares in stock and will replace it under warranty tomorrow. Another issue is a grinding sound in the gearbox whenever I actuate the clutch pedal. This will also be looked at. I told them about the water crossings and they think some grease re-packing or bearing replacement will need to be done. This will also be done under warranty.
