Youtube is so misleading these days in general. Every ameteur with a mobile is a reviewer these days. You ask any technical or specific point regarding the work being done in the video and you can see their level.

I am not talking about this place you have mentioned, nor I have any experience with them. I am talking in general. Even this Kalra Car Accessories shop has a rating of 4.8 on Google (around 400 reviews) but I have posted the images for everyone’s reference.

There is no certainty who worked on the car in a Youtube video of a car accessories shop and who will work on your vehicle. Moreover, the amount of labour and time invested on the car to be featured in a Youtube video by these accessory shops will always be more than the average time they spend attending general cars.

Truth to be told, I am a novice. People like me are the ones these shops love to fool.

Based on your posts I am now totally confused which accessories shop to approach. I was planning to put additional damping on my harrier once I get its delivery.

I also heard bad reviews of Tata SC. So going to them is also not recommended... I guess.

Your feedback couldn't have come at a better time for me. Last Thursday, I was in touch with Kalra Car Accessories (though Old Railway Road branch) for damping and speaker upgrade in my vehicle.

Now I have to think twice before going to them.

True. I searched myself and through my friends as well, but couldn't find any reliable/ recommended shop in Gurgaon. Google led me to Kalra Car Accessories.

I think motor concept would take up sole damping jobs but only when there's nothing else in their pipeline.
Motor Concepts is in my radar, but they don't deal in Morels. So, I have to discuss with them if they would install speakers and amp if I buy from other sources.

Dont worry, nothing will fall off. Roller is the right too to evenly press the sheets to the metal, if they do the same with something else,it will still work.

Also the sheets are going to be hidden behind the door pads, so if they used small pieces basis the available sheets, its fine. We are spoilt by clean installation pics on FB and other social media, just like pics of clean engine bays. Both of which add nothing much to car's performance or life of car.

While its fine, I wonder what was the size of the sheets that they couldnt used 1 fill sheet as a single large piece. Ideally the front 2 doors should not take more than 4 sheets, and with a few pieces left over.

A reason why I try and do these things DIY. A few pics of the damping I did for my Linea. The inside was done in 2 large cut pieces, which were measured and rolled inside the frame and then applied. Did use roller.

I stay in Gurgaon too. I can help you source Morels. In 2020 picked 3 sets of Morel Maximo6 for 5500/- each. 1 for self, 1 for a rapid owner friend and 1 for a punto owner friend. No complaints till now. You can also get from Motorogue website.

Motorconcept guys will do the installation even if you take your own equipment, but on a weekday. Weekends are full. I did the entire installation, wiring again as a DIY. I would work at nights ( after office hours ), doing just a few things at a time.

Day 1 - Open all panels
Day 2 - Wiring layout
Day 3 - Amp installation & wiring
Day 4 - Speaker installation ( morel componenst in front , morel coaxial at rear )
Day 5 - Final wiring and testing
Day 6 - Install back all panels

Problem is that some sheets havent been pressed well. Initially, the crossover was left at the bottom of the door and upon my insistence, the installer removed the speaker to fix the crossover to the door using double sided tape. Bottom of the innermost layer of damping sheet was hanging in the air. I will open door pads in coming weeks and will post the status here. I have ordered a roller off amazon and it will be delivered soon.

Agreed with this. But here is another observation. The bottom and outmost hole in the door metal sheet was covered well with a large piece of damping sheet and the poor installer then cut a piece of that sheet so that it doesnt show when the door pad is put back. In the process, he cut it so much that a part of hole was now left uncovered. To cover that up, he had to put three pieces over it. It was plain stupidity by the installer. I could have done a far better job than him. Its their daily job so we prefer to get this done from them for the sake of peace of mind.

The sheets were of standard 750x500mm with a thickness of 2.3mm.

By using small small irregular pieces, they could use up a lot more sheets per door. The installer who was working on the other door used only three sheets because he used bigger pieces.

I have now bought a bulk pack of StP Silver 750x500mm sheets having a thickness of 2mm. I will be doing this myself now. I bought it from MotoRogue website.

P.S. Nice installation there and this is how damping sheets should be installed. Large pieces rather than laying small pieces on top of another small pieces.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Has anyone used sound damping in an EV to cut road/tyre/wind noise? Am just curious if something like a ZS EV can be brought closer to luxury car levels.

We have a 2017 Camry Hybrid right now and I was contemplating downgrading to a ZS but my only real worry is the difference in NVH (non engine).

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Guys, I have a source in 3M who helps me with some installations at home (rather than the outlet as it is expensive). Can someone share their experience with 3M damping sheets? I am planning to get my 3OO damped on all doors and the boot (single layer damping). I have been told that the 3OO has a heavy door anyway, so single layer damping is more than enough. I am not a music guy, but just want to enjoy a quieter cabin. I have no complaints now, but want to just get this done so that there are no rattles after 4 to 5 years of ownership. Thank you.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

I got all doors of "City" damped with Dr. Artex Iridium.

Took 10 sheets and costed 10k.

NVH has improved and doors close with a nice "thud".

Where did you get it done and would you have any suggestions for Delhi? I have a plan for visiting Chandigarh. If it takes a day, then I can get it done at Chandigarh.

Damping four doors shouldn't be more than couple of hours. I got it done at SK Motors, Sector 28.

I think you should get it done in Delhi, incase there's some issue later. More options too in Delhi.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Looking for some advise here.

I have a 2017 S-Cross 1.3 DDIS and the engine noise is on the higher side. So I primarily want to reduce the engine noise and based on this and LeoShahi's excellent thread, I have shortlisted following options -

1. Paining COWL area with water based compound.
2. Wheel well underbody coating with water based compound to reduce road noise creeping in.
3. Sound Dampening sheets in door panels and boot lid.
4. Getting floor Damping sheets
5. Going to whole hog including floor, doors, roof, boot, possibly fenders & engine bay (beneath the flimsy insulation provided by Maruti)

I am also changing the tyres to Continental UC6 and based on feedback it should reduce the road noise quite a bit. So anything else that I spent on is for engine noise.

So the questions is
1. which of the 4 option I should go with?
2. Will 1. & 2. sufficiently cover the engine noise?
3. I don't want to spent more than 15K at this stage - is it a fair ask given the budget?

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Hey guys,

Has Dampmat gone out of business? I had their number, it's no longer valid. There are no replies to emails and texts sent. I had used their Exceed product in 2018 in one of my cars and was impressed with the product & I was looking to use it again in another car.

If anyone can let me know what their status is, I'd be grateful.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

There is a small dent in the door which I think is easily fixable. The problem is that the door is damped.
How is that handled?
