Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

Thanks a lot to Dr Naren and Sunejarahul for the software and the link. I just flashed my system and like everyone else, it failed at 96% . Then it rebooted and went on till completion. Mine is a Brezza, May 2016. I checked with my One Plus 3T, Google maps showed well, but some issue with calls. I'll check again in evening. I'll also try to connect my Brezza exclusive Moto X Play.

Thanks. I've kept a file in my drive.

3. Few owners have reverted to 750 version (files link available here) and it's successful.

4. Good quality USB cables / Original ones are highly recommended.

5. This is not official release by Maruti. Maruti can void HU warranty. Do keep backup of 750 file
Thanks for DIY stuff. My system had 740. Now it's 1740.

If you look closely, the system was not showing any previous versions like others. I don't know the reason for it. Moreover, the system number is also different compared to S- Cross owners!

Few users have reported this phone calls issue. This happens once in a while. The calls get routed to phone / no voice etc. But phone calls work perfectly like before while not using Android auto.

I am having a May'17 manufactured vehicle hence contemplating whether to go ahead with the flash or not. Was there any difference in the HU from 2016 to 2017?

Still a mystery as to what's different in 2017 models. You can flash it and try your luck. Your unit will have everything working as it is right now even if Android Auto doesn't work.

You can give it a try. If it doesn't work, you can flash back 750 version.

Trying one more time in a few minutes.

Re: Android Auto update for owners of Maruti's older SmartPlay Infotainment System

So connected my iPhone to my car in the morning after the update. Music was playing fine, but I realized soon enough that Siri functionality and voice calls have stopped functioning over carplay. i.e. I can make calls and answer them, I can even initiate Siri by pressing the voice command button but somehow nothing is going through the microphone however same is working well over Bluetooth. P.S. i had updated to iOS 10.3.3 also today morning so don't know which system has broken down.
Can anyone else confirm this issue?

Apple CarPlay has nothing to do with Android Auto. But as far as I know, CarPlay has always had issues. I plugged my cousin's CarPlay long ago at 750 version and it still was a hit or miss with Siri. iOS 10.3 supports CarPlay but it hasn't been perfected by Apple yet.

Kind of stuck here. New version does not work and neither does the old one now.

I know CarPlay and Android Auto are different, just saying that two software changes in last 24 hours (One in mobile OS and one in ICE OS) and the end result is one functionality going away. By the way, for me, CarPlay was smooth from day one with no issues in Siri usage as long as you had internet connectivity. My question was directed at users who were using CarPlay regularly and have updated to both ver 1740 in SLDA and ver 10.3.3 on iOS.

Got it working the third time. Still have to find out how Android Auto would work. For now the HUD says "phone not connected" even though it was detected initially, and prompted me all the agreements, made me install the app, turn ON and connect bluetooth, and so on.

Will see it later .

Do update us if it works. I tried it in my May '17 Zeta and it doesn't even detect the flash drive with the new firmware. Tried it with 2 different usb drives. Still nothing. It just boots up to the homescreen.

Android Auto requires the phone to be connected via USB iirc. Also, the agreements and permissions are standard for Android Auto setup.

Did you copy the folder or all files directly into pen drive?

I tried with both. On one, I had the files directly in the flash drive (freshly formatted) and the other had them in a folder named 1740 (again, freshly formatted). At first I was using a USB 3 flash drive and assumed that could be the reason so retried all of this on a USB 2 flash drive. Still no luck.

The update won't happen if you copy the folder. All the files should be directly copied into flash drive. There should not be any folders. I wonder why it did not work. Anyways many 2017 owners have reported that Android auto doesn't work but the update is successful.
