How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

This is an adsl plan and I had it too. There is a separate vdsl as well at 8 and 16 mbps, which requires a vdsl modem and house should be within 500m of exchange (atleast I was told this).

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

But in the BSNL site, this plan is listed as VDSL only.
The customer care guy whom I spoke to, said that I can change to this plan on my risk only. If I am not getting the said speed, they are not responsible.

My modem status showed max attainbale speed as 20Mbps, so I switched to this.
Had I known this plan is available for ADSL customers also, I would have switched much before.

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

I use G Broadband in BTM area of Bangalore. Plan is 10mbps, daily 1Gb limit with FUP at 2mbps. Serves me good. 50% of the time I get promised speeds. Rest it can be little less. But its uptime is 100%.

Their infra does not look so good with cables pulled over peoples houses, but then it is holding good for the last two years that I am using. I get a network cable right to my home.

I use Airtel - 16Mbps, 75GB, 999 per month. I love airtel for their internet stability. I get constant 2Mbps speed from my seed box.

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Hi All,
I have a DSL line from HATHWAY in Bangalore 50Mbps unlimited Data with a cap of 25Gb download around INR950 per month. Post the free usage(25Gb) the speed drops to 512Kbps. Using the 50 Mbps since 18 months now and it consistently gives me a speed of more than 43mbps in real time. Apart from some initial signal issues I can say that the connectivity is pretty good.

Regards,
Aari

ACT in BTM 2nd Stage. No problem with connection all. Although a bit of an overkill but fast downloads don't hurt

Location: Pune
ISP: Tikona
Speed: 4 MBPS
Attained Speed: 3.97 MBPS 80% of the times

It is a 15GB unlimited plan that costs me 600/-. enough for my needs as I do not download much, videos play without buffering and mobile apps are downloaded quick enough.

Customer Service is definitely good at Tikona, downtimes occur sporadically but are taken care of within 4 hours.

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

have taken up airtel 4g wifi home setup - 15gb for 1500Rs. upload and download speeds are too-good.
I am using it for generic work purposes without any heavy downloads.
However my 15gb plan got exhausted in 2 weeks and now the speed cap gives atmost 50kbps - which mostly takes too long to load pages.

In my area, broadband as well as tikona are unavailable. so i am left with no choice but to upgrade to higher plan :(
I am trying to somehow restrict download speed to 500kbps.

You should turn off automatic updates everything in your home network - OS, Phone, anti virus, apps on pc and all devices etc. That will help to some extent. I also assume you have locked your network access with appropriate security to prevent others from access. Normal day to day work can be restricted to 15gb typically, but the "normal" will depend on your environment and use, just some thoughts how to cope..

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

New landline/fiber plans for Mumbai by Airtel. (Fiber availability depends on Apartment complex)

http://www.airtel.in/broadband-and-f...adband/tarrifs

Specially 2200 plan that gives 40 mbps and 100 GB data.

There is a 1600 plan as well that gives 8 mbps and 100 GB data (not shown in site above).

Both plans include unlimited local and STD calls.

It looks like they are in the process of updating revised plans for Mumbai. Only three plans displayed as of now. The two you have shown and one plan under fast 599. Hoping they introduce increased speeds and more data plans for Mumbai..

Airtel and MTNL have introduced plans up to 100 MBPS. However, availability varies based on apartment complex.

MTNL's plan is pretty good. 1500 per month for 250 GB data at 10 mbps (5 mbps upload).
