Re: Direct-To-Home television in India. Update DTH HD announced

When is the pay per channel coming to effect? I am fed up with the "package" / "bundle" they decide.

Its so well packaged that all our required channels are equally spread across several packages.

Let mine be the first post of those 3 pages . FTV is no longer banned. It is indeed available, although it is censored.

^^^+1

FTV is coming upscaled in SUN Direct SD Box (read SD not HD)

So viewing in HD TV is no more a horizontal scaling.

Cheers!

Airtel now has the option of unbundled service airtel digital TV - Top Ups

I find their package and top-ups in existing format to be cheaper than the new offering !!

The new plan is not just expensive, but bloody expensive.

Irrespective of the law enforced by Indian Govt / Trai, there are management gurus who can rip the Aam Aadmi!!!!

The TRAI mandated ala-carte channel pricing is to benefit people who watch very few channels. For them it works out cheaper.

For people who wan't to watch all the popular channels then "bundled offer" is the best.

I am a bit nonplussed with my new Asianet cable STB connection.

3-4 channels, FTV, some Zee channel and couple of otehrs are blocked by the Parental control lock. Now I have to bother myself to call up the customer care about what is up.

I think this offer has been on for some time now. They give you a cashback of 400 Rs on exchanging an old STB while buying an HD STB. The only thing holding me back from taking this offer is that Dish TV forces you to subsribe to the Platinum pack for HD boxes. I am currently on a Gold Saver pack and I find that even this is of not much use to me since i watch very little TV, except for a few movies and sports channels .

It has to be DVR. The basic HD box is 2600/- which I purchased 2-3 months back.

What details do you need? I found the website to be pretty detailed.

It is NOT the HD-DVR. This has not been launched yet.

For example : 2599(STB) + 3275 (12months x Grand package) = 5874 INR

You get a discount of about 1000INR upon paying 12 months upfront (If you opt for the Grand package). Possibly applies to the other packages too if one pays upfront for the annual subscription.
