The 2013 Range of Panasonic Plasmas is already out. The facebook page of Panasonic has been actively putting updates about the 2013 Plasmas. A link to the 2013 range of Panasonic Plasmas was posted in this thread too in the previous pages. I don't think your information is correct. The details of the S60, VT60, GT60, ST60 Series of the Plasmas for 2013 by Panasonic are all over the net. Just do a google search and you'll find all the details.

styler: I too hope its true and they do come to India. As of now the information is legitimate. You can check with Pana showrooms for plasma and stock issues.

The graph below is quite interesting, it shows how little share of plasma TV is in worldwide TV sales. (While the graph title says forecast, I suppose for past years it must be based on actual sales. In case lower part of graphic gets hidden, the columns are for years 2007 to 2016).

Edit: this article and graph was released in July 2012.

Plasma and LCD are on their way out. LCD (CCFL) might not even be available in showrooms two years down the line. How quickly things change. The forseeable future belongs to LED till they find a cost effective way to manufacture OLED TV's.

Still think LCD is best bang for the buck!
There are still 10000 families in the UK watching tv in black&white. I have a 46 and 32 LCD and a 37 LED. Doesn't really make much of a viewership experience one way or another IMHO...

The price difference between LCD and LED is narrowing with each passing year. It's only a matter of time before they pretty much even out. That's why the number of LCD models have reduced and LED's increased in showrooms from virtually every manufacturer.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Lg,samsung and Sony have all launched only LED based LCD for 2013,so from this year onwards you can just call them LCDs,since the CCFL lcds have been phased out.

However for India we might still see some low cost CCFL versions made for developing countries such as ours.

Plasma lives or dies...get one before that happens. I will definitely get a 65incher when the time is right and plasma is getting weeded out

Love plasma over LED for personal preference

3D is the last gimmick you should fall for when buying a TV. Its been 4 months and we have seen one movie in 3D. So if you are getting a deal for a Non 3D TV over a 3D, you should really consider buying the non 3D version.

It dies, at least it did in my case. I bought a 50 inch plasma in late 2006 for two lakhs. The display and power supply died in late 2012. The cost of repair was 48K. So I sold it for scrap for 1000 bucks.

6 years is a good life time

Ours is 4 years running. Fingers crossed it may go for another 2 years. Expectation is exactly around 6 years and in that time there is advancement in technology and we get the next generation of products.

There is no point repairing the LCD/Plasma if its going to cost 48K. 1000 for scrap is actually a good deal
