re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Against the 6 series I would recommend the Sony NX and the Panasonic LEDs. If you have the budget then look at the Sharp 40" from their Quattron 830 series. You can get this one around 75~80K and it is a gem.

If you are looking at boosting the sound output without cluttering things up then look at a sound bar. Phillips make some very good ones, Panasonic has a few and then there is this

Is there any other model I should be looking into?

Also I am curious if it's better to get a home theatre or some other PC speakers? As the main requirement is wireless rear speakers. Any suggestions on those?

I cannot go beyond 75000 in case of the LED. Main criteria would be DLNA and the capability to play all movie formats, including MKV, AVI and MP4. I am not really bothered about not having 3D and social apps/internet as I have my PC for that. Sorry I did not mention that before.

Sound bar seems like an awesome option as I was looking to avoid a clutter in the first place. Sadly the one you posted is way out of my budget which is 15000-20000.
I will go through the forum to see if I can find an option that might suit my needs. Any more suggestions?

Sony NX 40" is 93900 so that is out. Panasonic has no 40" LED so that's out too.
With the space constraint that I have, only a 40" LED or a 32" LCD would fit (I currently have this)

The options I can see at this time are,
  1. Samsung 40D6000 - Rs 70300
  2. Samsung 40D5900 (it seems the best look wise) - Rs 57900
  3. Samsung 40D5500 - Rs 59500 (why would this be cheaper than 5900?)
  4. Sony KDL-40EX600 - Rs 64990
  5. Sony KDL-40EX520 - Rs 63900
  6. Sharp LC-40LE820M - Rs 69990

All these prices are from compareindia.in.com, and I do not understand how these prices are cheaper than the ones on eBay or in stores.

40D5900 is better even though specs seem exactly the same.
It can play literally every format you can tho at it through USB.
Looks a lot better and is sleeker.
Samsung panels also tend to be better than LG.

BTW other user of this model with HD connection could provide some insight .

I am looking to buy a 32' LCD, budget around 25k. I want a basic LCD no hifi jargon. Choice is between panasonic and samsung. Sony is expensive, rest are unreliable (IMHO). What model do you suggest??

If you are not looking for Full HD and hifi features, then this looks like a decent buy.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hello I recently walked into a Sharp showroom. Their Quattron and Aquos TV's are the best when it comes to original colour reproduction as noticed and compared by me in detail to Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba. (Koreans just multiply the colours as the sales guy said). Sharp apparently uses 4 base colours instead of the regular RGB, with the addition being yellow.

Now my query is, since I want to settle for a 40" and above, the sharp guy says that Sharp produces the LCD/LED panel for Toshiba, Sony and even Panasonic. Keen to call this a bluff i cautioned him that he is saying something very serious. He said go ahead contact the companies and please yourself.

Is this true? If it is true, then i would end up saving upto 10 K - 15 k on 2011 models of the above mentioned brands.

I bought a Panasonic LCD 32" model last year for Rs 23800/-. It is running great, but I mostly see the 42" Panny Plasma. The lcd is in my daughter's room.

Check out the warranty on the sets and get the one with the longer warranty. Panasonic should have 3 year's warranty but do check.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Purchased Panasonic 42x30d today for 33,240 from Croma.

What are the power protection devices recommended? At our place there are no power fluctuations so is a belkin surge protector enough? Also should I go for gold series or any surge protector will do the job?
