Re: The Drones Thread - Reviews, Tips, Advice

Have been using the Mavic Mini for over a month now and enjoying it. Being small, avoid flying it in windy conditions, but the overall usage and photography are amazing. Attaching a recent vlog shot with Mavic Mini.

Mavic Mini 2 is here:

Surprisingly, few people had it in Best Buy and was leaked.

DJI may have hit the sweet spot with this model --

Less than 250 Grams
OcuSync 2.0 - With a 10 Km Range
31 Min Battery Life

Only downside no obstacle avoidance sensors and no active track.

Anyone want a lightly used Spark with about 250 Kms on the clock?

Re: The Drones Thread - Reviews, Tips, Advice

Leaving this (India gets its first Drone policy) here as well, so you guys are aware.

Quote:
So a friend sold his mavic mini as he was not using it much, all went smooth. Now the problem starts, since he had registered the drone, there is no way to remove the drone from your name or transfer to new owner. He continues to be responsible for how the drone is used by new owner.

When he wrote to digital sky, they say they only maintain the site, and can't give an option to Edit or delete the drone from his profile. This can be a potential issue, and not sure when it will be fixed. Another example of aping rules from other countries, but not implementing them completely.

Has DJI hard limited max altitude to 15m? I can no longer change it as the option is greyed out Can only change the max distance.

Re: The Drones Thread - Reviews, Tips, Advice

Yes came to post the same, i took the drone out to fly today, and was surprised to see this. Our government is hell bent on just making rules it seems. Wanted to capture lights today but with 15m Limit, it hardly just gets over my apartment floors.

Oh no. I didn’t notice this 15m issue. This is a big bummer.

What happens when you don’t ‘update’ the App ? I haven’t checked or tried anything on my drone yet.

I am guessing it might be app, or could have been part of the last firmware update, and activated with last app update.

Do try this and let us know, i will in that case find an old apk of the app, and install that.

Does anybody know of any Drone repair shops in Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand? Or a site which provides spare parts for variety of drones in India?

Products like DJI Mavic Mini comes under the Nano category. All drones weighing under 250g come under the Nano. The advantage of using this type of Drone is that you don't need any licence to fly it nor you need prior permission. However, according to the official DGCA website, all drones under Nano category have a 50ft ( 15meters ) allowed height limit.

It is indeed the app updates which put in the limits, I was at a remote location with spotty internet and rolled it back to version 1.1.9 (September) just to be sure and could change the altitude I believe it should work with version 1.1.10 as well. Link for apk site (android)

Welp, I guess we would have to miss out on future app updates, then!

Thanks for checking, yes 1.1.10 works too. Ya the new updates had nifty features like transfer from aircraft over wifi and enhanced photo function.

Auto update disabled, will live on with this version now.

Phew !
I’ll turn off the Auto Updates for the app. I was planning to fly the drone during Diwali to capture the night lit skies and am so glad I noticed the thread and the 15m height issue.

Any workaround for iOS? unable to find any working solution, this limitation is very absurd, this issue would slowdown their sales surely.

Hey there, not entirely sure of the process for iOS as I use an android phone. However, a quick search on Google came up with this workaround. Hope it helps!
