It is practically a small sized convection oven. To answer your question - no it does not taste the same.

Don't know about others, but from my experience, it is a novelty appliance and may not see much usage after the initial excitement dies

No. The taste is not the same.
After using it initially, I think it's the same as a convection oven but with restricted space. If you have a convection oven (even the microwave ones which have convection mode) that's better than these air friers if reducing oil is the objective. The taste will not be the same here too.

But our frier has been lying around... For over a year now.

I have both an air fryer and a convection MWO. If one is interested in "air frying", an air fryer is much more efficient for the job (albeit for smaller portions at a time). A convection MWO wastes a lot of energy for the same job because its volume is not optimized for "air frying".

Hello guys, which atta chakki (flour mill) for domestic purpose is best in terms of relibility, ease of maintenance and warranty support? Budget 15 to 17k. We need it for wheat and rice only at home.

After many years, now thinking of buying an AC at home (Bangalore). Althought it will be used only for 3 to 4 months a year we are now thinking of going for it with the WFH possibilities as well as to enjoy some creature comforts that we have abstained for this long.

We will need 2 of them for the 2 rooms we have.

Question is, assuming we use it for 5 days a week + all nights, but only for 3 to 4 months a year, is it worth buying a 5* instead of a 3*?

Secondly, any specific brands? In this thread I see very high recommendation for Daikin, Bluestar, next being LG/samsung/Panasonic. Although very subjective with varied feedback, is there any particular brand you would suggest? I live on Sarjapur road Bangalore and just to go by ease/service quality would anyone be able to suggest any particular brand?

I'd recommend Daikin or LG. For limited usage for few weeks in the year, you can consider 3 star if price difference is high for your budget. I'd also recommend to buy a good voltage stabilizer.

On the same track. Finally BLR is not BLR anymore. Got myself a Panasonic AC in January 2024 and very happy with it. Get a 5 star one. The model I got is 1.5Tonne AU18ZKY5F.

I have bought a lot of sandwich toasters - manual, electric, automatic etc. in the last 50 years.

Each has its pros and cons, but nothing beats the manual where you toast on gas. It is inexpensive, hassle free and does an excellent job. In contrast the electric ones (including two toast automatic) either under or over fry. This is because as the toaster heats up the time taken decreases, so if you do not change the settings every round you are in trouble.

In my experience go for a manual one with non stick coating and toast it over gas.

This home chakki is not a structured market with known name players. Almost all of them are manufactured in Gujarat and sold under different brand names. What I suggest is ask around shops that sell kitchenware near your place. Buy whichever meets your purpose.

Local support is also very important. Avoid online purchase.

Not sure how available they'd be in India but if you mean a grill in the sense of a panini press, something like a decent George Foreman or Cuisinart. I've had a George Foreman for about 7 years now and I go through phases where it just sits in a cupboard for months, only to pull it out for burritos and toasties and it works just fine. I'm sure they'll be a reputable Indian brand that does something similar? Plus you can use it for much more besides compared to the old school triangular sandwich grills I remember from my childhood (the teflon on those would inevitably come off fairly quickly).

Noob query.
I have a 1000 liter water tank above the second floor. It takes close to 45 -50 mins to fill this fully with the motor we have now. The earlier one which we had to replace after multiple complaints was much faster. I need to replace it with a more powerful one. What should I seek in a motor to ensure that there is more power and the tank gets filled faster?
