40k for a year old phone?
I'll never understand Apple, or its fans.

re: The iPhone Thread: iPhone 4 launch 27 May 2011

I think it is time Apple had a second look at their pricing for India. Newer Android phones with similar features can be had for nearly half the price now.

When I was looking to upgrade from 3GS last month, I naturally looked at iPhone 4 first. Then I looked at Android offerings and said, Yikes!

But is Apple selling the phone or the telecom companies? The reverse subsidy looks nice, but wondering if it will have any special riders.

Anyway, my Nokia E72 will get retired for good on 27th.

I think price is on the higher side, especially if this is going to be locked to networks with expensive usage plans. Wonder the telco's or apple is to be blamed for this blunder!

Await your help on the above

Absolutely no issues, if she wants she can open the box and put the device in her hand bag, just to be doubly sure.

Are the instructions in the above link correct ? If not, any alternative leads ? I tried a brief search on iclarified but did not get any relevant results.

Thanks,

iOS is 4.2.1 and baseband 6.15

Do I neet to JB again? Any links to DIY job. Thanks in advance.

PS : The net applications work fine with wifi.
To both the above quotes.

Goto iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials and see the instruction for unlock. It has step by step instruction on how to do it based on your firmware and baseband version.

Easiest way is to use Outlook to sync the contacts and calendars. SMS am not sure coz i never tried copying them. If its not many, simply forward to the phone once its active using another sim.

Can anyone tell me when the new iPhone is expected to be launched? And how different from the 4 is it going be?

Planning on buying a 4 next month, but if the launch is around the corner, and if there's going to be a lot of difference in features, I might as well wait for the new one.

My stratergy would have been. Pay 15K and get a phone with a year plan. Pay another 5K after a year to continue with the plan for a year or pay 15K and get it unlocked.

Atleast the initial ownership cost would be much cheap and airtel would have its plans covered for a year with every phone sold.

Launch confirmed for May 27

16 GB white / Black for Rs 34500
32 GB white / Black for Rs 40900

It is not locked to any network, Airtel and Aircel will be selling it but you can use it with any network from Day 1. It just that you won't get the subsidize Iphone plan.

Put the case in her check in bagage thats it. Cellphones generally are not pursued at customs and hence i say this.

Rumor has it that it is not going to be too different maybe same as 3G to 3GS upgrade. But you have to wait and see till its launched to believe any of it. That is how apple works, tease tease till one goes bonkers!

Only reason why i doubt is the same thing happened when 3G was launched, only thing Airtel offered an unlock on completion of year 1.

For ref sake the 32GB iPhone 4 factory unlocked from Dubai operator was 34700 for me. So price is still high, anyways if its unlocked atleast its convenient.
