I would suggest you stick to one computer while syncing your phone with iTunes. From what I have seen, syncing the iPhone on multiple computers will result in data loss if you are not careful. Also, any folders you create on your phone will get deleted (when you sync Apps) and you'll have to set them all over again.

Guys, I have read this thread several times, but a mixed opinions have got me confused.

I am asking my brother to bring iphone 4 from USA and he says he can locked version from someone. What should I do ? I did search on iclarified.com for the cracks available, and I understand certain OS only have cracks while others dont have it yet.

I am in a fix, as my brother cant choose on the OS version for the phone he is choosing.

Should I ask him to bring the phone and then if in case there is no crack available, keep the phone in the box till then, in the hopes that one day the cracks will appear and I will be able to crack them.

Will I be able to update OS later on ?
Will I be able to download apps through iTunes ? Under what scenario ?

He is going to buy it within next two days, help appreciated.

You can get factory unlocked versions in ebay. It might be priced 2-3k extra compared to locked version from USA but you will get peace of mind of buying a unlocked phone & also you will have a good resale value.

There are no jailbreak and unlock available for new iOS yet.

Depends on the price you are getting if it's more than 5-10k price difference. It's worth it, otherwise buy an unlocked version.

Getting it for less than 500 USD = INR 22500 approx from US, lots of savings, I understand on ebay India the same model 16GB is available for INR 31k plus.

Spoke to some guys, who said, better to get it restored to 4.0 OS and then crack it if no crack available for latest versions.

Will update this thread on future developments for others benefit.

Check craiglist in US for better deals on iPhone4. I still suggest you can factory unlocked version.

Phew, iDrive application came to my aid. The only important content that i had was contact. I took backup using iDrive application. Restored iPhone to factory settings using the offline upgrade and set it as a new device. (Did not restore the old backups.) Now the hotspot option is available in my iPhone and works like a charm! Contact was restored back using iDrive app.

@dreams and fuel addict. Thanks for the advise guys. I, however, managed to get a solution for the problem I had. I created a new windows account (like a new user) and then syncronised the iphone with itunes from the new account and it worked. Dont know what the problem is but I found this solution on apple's website.

yup, doing that, deal finalized for 450 USD, will get it today (in US I mean), then the wait of coming to India and me using it.

Cant get unlocked phone from US, have to get whatever is available and this one is with OS 4.3, let me see how I can crack it.

which is a JVM Apps.
It's no working for me from my iPhone4 with iOS 4.3.1.
Rest every Indian Bank sites are properly opened.

Is there any issue with JVM Apps?

Upgraded to IOS 4.3.1.

Initial impressions about lesser battery consumption are positive.
But I will wait for a couple of days to make a final judgement as to whether I found my battery life to improve or not!!

From Web Site only and there's no SBI Apps available in AppStore like ICICI iMoble Apps.
