Friends Bought New Samsung Wave 723 (White colour) on 25.01.2011

Brilliant Camera for a 5 mega pixel with Auto Focus, Crisp display, 3G, Wifi, 3.2" Screen Capacitive touch screen (Touch is really nice). Some nice applications on Samsung Apps store, the default safari browser is delight to use. The sound output in earphones is pleasure (I am using creative EP 635) yet to try the default ones. I must say i am absolutely loving it.

Market Price 11k, Sold my 21 months old Samsung Star for 2.5k got Wave723 for 8.5K and 0.7k for 8 GB card. Nice deal in 9.2k. My main priority was camera & 3g and it has definitely sufficed my needs.

I have WPA/WPA2PSK security setup in my modem/router, have tried by keeping the network Open also but to no avail, same error is displayed.

Any pointer to any error in settings. Need help from all you experts.

Since it says Authentication failed it is not Static or DHCP issue.
Check following points.
1. If mac filtering is enabled in your Wifi router , If yes then add MAC of your phone to the table.
2. Check the router logs to see why it is rejecting authentication that will give you some clue.
3. most of the time when you type WPA2/PSK key the password is masked by * so as a user you are not able to see what is being typed. Is it a possibility that the key is not getting entered correctly ?
Try changing your key to a simpler to type string and check.

HTC Wildfire vs LG Optimus P500

I'm looking to buy an Android phone.

Since this will be my 2nd/backup/personal usage phone (I already have a BB for official use), I do not want to spend more than 10-12k on it.

I'm confused between HTC Wildfire and LG Optimus P500.

My requirements:
1. QWERTY like typing
2. Good battery life
3. GPS, BT, WiFi
4. Good camera

HTC Wildfire seems to fulfill all of the above. But its Android 2.1. And the Optimus is 2.2 (but I have heard HTC is better than any other brand when it comes to Android handsets).

I would like to know - what big deal is it to upgrade the firmware on an Android?

Like Nokia/BB, can we not upgrade to the next available version?

I bought an Optimus One for 12300 INR. Its a superb phone, and I am loving it. I did not like the wildfire due to high price and small screen. Even the processor and RAM are lesser than Optimus.

My friend has Wildfire, He got 2.2 upgrade on the air from HTC almost 1 month back. 2.2 upgrade for Wildfire is officially released. Only thing bad about wildfire is its display.

Nah, nah!! I'm talking about the firmware!

LG hasn't released the 2.3 update yet, which I'm sure you already know.
