Is this the best they are talking about ? From the reviews too, people seem to be highlighting the camera quality but they say with further patches, it might improve !! question mark !!
Coming to Nokia, I thought the RAM was 1GB. you are correct here. However i think the phone is not laggy. Is the Windows apps market placing restriction on the apps you can download ? 1GB RAM would mean some high end Gaming app i guess. As long as basic stuff like Temple run 2(or equivalent) runs fine i am OK.
Apart from Camera, I mainly need Email, browsing, video and music player, productivity apps such as xls, ppt, word for reading. i am on other side of the 30s, so I dont think i will have time to do hardcore gaming anyway.
Btw, Did you compare this with Lumia 620 ? |
@rajshenoy
I will paraphrase the features explored by me till now
1. Camera: In one word, Excellent. It is just 6.15MP, but has Carlzeiss optics with F1.9 aperture, I believe its the widest aperture in a phone yet, so low light photography is good, not just in paper, but in real life too. The photos come out with good color and manage to capture a lot of details. I tried taking photos in night with lights on and a few in the room ones and found the photos clean without noise(Not DSLR clean, but good enough in a mobile phone) . One thing it lacks is image stabilization, but didn't find the need to till now. Dedicated camera button makes things very easy, you can start the camera at an point of time by clicking on the camera button, the application you are working on will be put on hold and you can take photos or videos. Videos too are easy to shoot (just by selecting the video icon after you start the camera) and the auto focus is great.
2. Screen: Its a Clear Black IPS LCD and is lovely. Its a low res one but you will not notice it, everything appears smooth. Colors are punchy and the screen is slightly curved(You will not notice it much) which gives a great feel. It compliments the phone very much.
3. UI: UI is very intuitive and smooth, so using it is very easy.
4. Audio: It s bit of a let down till now. Audio quality is good , but loud speaker volume is on the lower side and the audio player is a very simple one.
Options like Dolby enhancement / equalizer work only when you have a wired headphone connected. Didn't explore other options yet.
5. Connectivity: Till now i have tried only sending messages, but it has a host of options for email and stuff. But till now its good.
6. Games: I have downloaded almost all the top free games available and temple run is not one of them. Haven't tried the paid ones yet.
Windows app collection is small when compared to Android, so this might be an issue if you are heavy into games.
7. GPS/Maps: There are two free applications HERE and Drive which use common maps(We can download the maps for entire India again for free and have it loaded for offline navigation and saving data plans). We just loved these apps, just after we got the phone, we travelled to AP for a friend's marriage and was able to use it on that trip. It was excelled for charting routes or finding a place. Very simple and intuitive.
I haven't tried the office suit yet, but it comes preloaded with the phone, so on this front you shouldn't have any issues.
Compared to 620, we went for 720 based on the following reasons.
1. Better and bigger screen: IPS in 720 against TFT in 620, 4.3" vs. 3.8 " but with the same resolution, so 620 has better sharpness, but i didn't notice the diff.
2. Bigger battery: 2000 mAH vs. 1300 mAH.
3. Better optics: Carlzeiss f1.9 vs no name one.
4. Slimmer and sleek design.
But if you need a more powerful one esp., for gaming, you can stretch your budget a little and go for Xperia SP. It has Adreno 320 GPU which is used in the top of the line smart phones like HTC one and Xperia Z. It makes gaming or using any graphics intensive application smooth and will be future proof to an extent due to powerful hardware. since you are planning to have the phone for 3 years it will make sense in the long run.
