Hi Guys
My sis is looking for a laptop. Though she needs it for the basic ppts, excel sheets and word kind of stuff, it would be alright if the lappy can do a little more.

Here are the requirements:
1. Sleek and lightweight
2. Min 1 GB ram
3. Min 1.6 Ghz processor
4. Min 120- Gb HDD
5. Webcam
6. The other basic stuff like a DVD writer and all that.
7. Budget: would be nice if we could fit it under USD $750

I am looking to get this ordered in the US and have someone bring it down from there. I have looked at HP and Dell and am attaching a couple of links below (these models are going to about US $850 which is ok if the config is worth it)

Customize your dv6700t series direct at HP Home & Home Office Store

Dell:
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

sorry for the huge link paste.

Could you guys advice me? Is Mac or Sony also an option? And is Acer a good buy?

I need to order this within the next 2-3 days... so banking on your suggestions, thanks in advance.

Mayank my sister recently bought DV6626US for $650 + she got printer + scanner and headphones and what not lol
Amazon.com: HP Pavilion DV6626US 15.4" Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium): Computers & PC Hardware
But that was on offer during christmas.

Buy the HP Pavilion 15.4" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop and other Laptop computers at circuitcity.com

• Intel Core 2 Duo T5250
• Built-in wireless 802.11abg
• Burns DVDs and CDs
• 160GB hard drive
• 1GB of DDR2 memory
• Built-in webcam

The same laptop u can get for $700 now if u order from above link. The laptop is working pretty good according to my sis.

She uses it for basic emails, chat, some research work + some bioinformatics softwares.

The processor is also better than dv6700t u mentioned below.

No operating System installed - will be loading XP that i have.

got the above in Bahrain - equivalent to IRs 34K

let me know if its a good deal and

Question: Do i need to load the Drivers DVD before loading XP.
You will not be needing the drivers dvd for loading XP. But you might need drivers after installation.

And that is a very very very goooood deal.

My sister friend got a vaio almost same config as u mentioned below without windows for $400 on thanks giving. Its a ****e according to her. Just looks everything else is same. Better buy ACER lol. Vaios are just over priced.

If you want looks buy HP and get their printable covers order them online or create yer own lol.

Yes MAC is good. They boot faster than windows But applications is problem if you are regular windows user and try some new softwares. They work faster because of less services running etc.

windows is slower because they support lot of ****e DLLL services etc etc. I would suggest to stick to WINDOWS. But if you want to be DIFFERENT MAC is the way to go.

I heard that you can install windows on MAC Book now days.

Dell's are good. No service center in India so u have to call them and their representative will come within 48 hours. Mu friends got dell no problem with them over heating.

I am using my laptop on bed and just finished playing NFSMW (my lappy got nvidia GPU). Below is the screen shot. Dells, toshiba, lenevo, HP all have good heating vents so temperature stays in limit.

go for a Sony Vaio VGN N320E/B. I own the same and the configurations will suffice your sis's requirements.
