Hey Guys, Just bought Sony Vaio FZ27G yesterday.
Configuration is as follows:-
Intel core2 duo T7500 processor- 2.2 ghz (4mb cache)

NVIDIA Ge Force 8400M GT GPU with 256 MB dedicated memory.
200 GB HDD,
1GB RAM (Upgraded to 2 GB for 1200 bucks)

15.4" screen, vista home premium, HDMI output, dvd burner, etc.

Got the total at 77,400 inclusive of taxes.

Is the price I paid good or should've gotten a better discount?

Was thinking of going in for a Macbook but apparently, they don't have any CAD software (Autocad in particular) for mac's.

That sounds about right, I have been offered 3% discount in Pune. They are not willing to move any more.

Great spec and great laptop. Enjoy it and don't worry about the price now that it's in your hands.

If you have Fusion or Parallels, Macs are as good as any other machine (Windows or Linux). If one hasn't caught on the virtualization bandwagon yet, using boot camp (and installing Windows) is another viable option.

@karthik8741

Check out the new models from Compaq, go in for their AMD models, I think it will cost around 27k.

They have better warranty support than Acer

it wont be apt to say acer's service quality is not comparable to Hp-Compaq. there's nothing really much different between the two.

Toshiba and Asus have great service backup. And Panasonic's service backup just plain rocks.

Regarding the best deals, here in hyderabad we the metro stores which give good deals. there are metro stores else where in the country. i think they are in banglore, mumbai, pune,... its worth checking there. only thing is you should be a registered businessman with holding a metro card or you should go along with a card holder.

Even I am looking for something similar, usage is net browsing, movies, music and some basic word processing(in that order). I had been to a lenovo showroom today, the dealer dint have the same model but had the one with c2d procy(rest all same) i liked the build quality and all, so am considering it. I dont need any OS bundled(planning to use Ubuntu), dont care about battery back up or weight. Is there any other model you guys recommend? I think there is a similar model from Acer for same money(the less than 20k model doesnt have dvd writer). Also how much for 1GB ram? the dealer said 1.5k for it. guess it will be cheaper outside right?

Small/light weight laptop under 70k ?

Hey guys , i want to buy a good laptop under 70k . The models that i 've shortlisted are the Dell XPS 1330 and HP Pavilion tx1302 tablet ...

The laptop will mostly be used outdoors while traveling ...

My criterias :

Small and lightweight(screen less then 13 or 13 inch)
Features
Good battery life
Good Service , warranty

The Dell XPS1330 (after customisation) costs Rs. 68k whereas the HP tx1302 will cost 62k approx .

Which one amongst these you suggest ?
Any other brand/model that i am missing out ?

Thanks in adv .
