Google has a free+Open Source Kannada font "NotoSansKannada". This font works on Kindle. If you have Kannada books in one of the supported formats, these should work on Kindle.

Re: Amazon Kindle

I had some Amazon vouchers that are due to expire soon so though of purchasing the Paperwhite but was surprised to see it priced at 11k. I thought that the price was reduced to 9k, so will wait and see if the prices drop again before 10th May.

The 9k that you would have seen would be during some special offers where they reduce the price. Else the Paperwhite has always been in the 11k ball park. 2k discount is on during festive season or some special occasions.

Thank you. This is a legitimate site unlike all the other boot legging sites out there.

Yes, thanks Raja. I got to know of the sale so I am waiting. And my vouchers expire on 13th so the timing works perfect.

Re: Amazon Kindle

I complained to Amazon about poor battery of my Paperwhite.
They sent me a refurbished unit yesterday. Now I still have the old one with me (no one has come to pickup yet).

Charged both of them - will do a battery test.

Meanwhile, Google Playstore has 75% off on any one book that you like. The problem is getting it onto Kindle may be a challenge.

Meanwhile, I stopped experimenting with the conversions of PDF's - it just does not help no matter which format you convert too. You cannot do any font scaling and need to keep scrolling left-right.

Re: Amazon Kindle

I use the ProElite case. Quite nice.
Meanwhile my battery test continues. The new Kindle has a much better stand by time.

This is what I got for my son's Kindle: http://www.amazon.in/dp/B00XV4OG16.

Pricier than your choice, but rugged enough (and a 12-year old's Kindle is indeed put through some tough situations).

My own Kindle is the Kindle app on my Nexus 9 tablet.

I have the same exact one. It's nice. Using it for the last 1 year or so. It has held up pretty well.

Does it do the job, ie facilitate hands-free reading ?
