I do not mean to discourage you. I was in the same boat a few months back and I sold the 3S prime to get a 4.

Unfortunately, your options are to choose an alternate operator as a second SIM or just buy another phone.
Their usual customer care took endless time and on 17th closed the issue as resolved (after asking technician to visit again). I was pretty pissed with the overall experience. They could have upfront told me that it will not be refunded as per policy, but they dragged the issue for 20 days and then closed it abruptly without providing any reason, even when the technician confirmed the issue.

So I digged into google to find some higher ups mail id. Found them but then also found their mail id to register grievance + their cs head. So instead of sending the mail to the higher ups, sent it to their grievance + cs_head, with the summary of the entire history. This was sent on 18th at around 1:30 am.

18th
9:30 am: Was woken up by a call from flipkart. The guy at the other hand apologised for the standard responses that their customer care initially provided. Promised to raise the return again, this time for good.
10:00am: SMS received of return registered.
11:30am: Pick up scheduled - same day
2:30 pm : Phone is picked up
5:00 pm: Refund initiated. Next day it reached my account.

So now I am again using an age old LG L60 and sitting on the 10k refund, because after seeing the discounts, I decided I would rather wait for the next round of discounts instead of spending 3k extra for the phone.

If I woud have escalated it 1 day earlier, could have benefited from the sale.

PS: How is your Redmi 4 experience? I might settle for it. Weekend spent in a mall looking for phones, the only one I liked was Samsung Galaxy j7 pro, but priced at 21k, I backed away.

Glad to see that you got a refund finally.

Redmi 4 is a jack of all trades, master of none. There is nothing much to complain about but nothing to praise either. It supports all LTE bands and Vodafone 4G works.

Battery life is the only exceptional thing but the charging time is painfully slow.

Camera is pretty average and front camera is worse for today's standards.

I recently face a lot of lags in the UI and occasional signal drops.

It is a good all round device, but in the last couple of months there are better devices launched.

I would suggest you have a look at Honor 6x or the Lenovo K8 plus.

Yes, in Mi A1 (Android One) it gives log history of one number till only 3 recent calls.

In MIUI - It gives across the full history of the phone all calls received/called from the number.

Well done!

But no "well done" for Flipkart, as you should not have had to go through this to get simple, satisfactory customer service.

Thad, to be fair I would not blame flipkart for this. The phone does not support a particular LTE band and it is mentioned in theirs as well as the manufacturer website.

I would rather appreciate both Flipkart and Xiaomi for giving a refund in this case as there isn't any defect with the phone itself.

With the increasing number of fake buyers and returners (for the lack of a better word) , it is not a surprise that they restrict on the easy returns that we had initially.

I had the same issue with a Redmi 3S prime and I found it only months later. Apart from that it was a fantastic device for the price. In the end, had to sell it at a loss eventually.

For one, there is no mention of the bands and frequencies supported by the device on Flipkart's spec list.
Second, in today's time, why should the buyer need to check all these technicalities while buying a phone. If it supports 4g, then it should support all bands in the country. It should not be the buyers responsibility to check which bands are used by his operator in the state of residence and cross check these with all phones for compatibility. Because apparently the same operator can use different bands in different circles. Its not as if the phone was bought to be used in a different country altogether.

PS: I tried checking with Vodafone about a particular handset by Samsung and the initial response was not straight & quite useless. I sent them the screenshot of what bands the phone supports and they just did not give a straight answer. All they came back with is that it should support 2100mhz. Apparently, even Redmi note 4 supports 2100mhz but still their 4g did not work. It took them 6-7 days to confirm that the spec sent will support.

So all I want to say is that the buyer should not suffer on such technicalities. For him, he should just be checking if the phone supports 4g/VoLTE and that is it. If it supports and still he/she cannot use it, then he/she deserves a refund.

small information, the Redmi 4 may support all LTE bands in India but didn't work for voice on AT&T in the US. Data was working fine though and I managed with whatsapp calls till I purchased the Op5 there in the US.

No Android or iOS flagship phone has Lag, when it is launched.

However, over the years, updates keep on coming from both OS & App developers.
Slowly and slowly, waste and junk builds up, and then the "Lag" starts.

Both my S3, iPhone4 were flagships in their heydays.
Both were buttery smooth when I bought them.
However, Both are piles of laggy junk today. Reason: Software Updates!

I am not trying to argue with you and In-fact I was happy that you were refunded. I can see the below mentioned in Flipkart though I am not sure when it was added.

Operating Frequency
GSM - 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz; WCDMA - 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz; 4G LTE (TDD) - B40, LTE (FDD) - B3 / B5

For one, I wouldn't have had such patience. As you say it is very difficult for anyone to understand the bands and circles. For now, only Vodafone uses FDD B1 in India.

In my case, I got a 4G SIM when Vodafone 4G was still not launched. After the launch, I was confused why my phone doesn't show 4G. Mine being a prepaid connection, I recharged with different 4G plans, swapped SIM 3 times with no result.

Finally, an e-mail to nodal office gave me a reply about my device's support.

By that time my phone was 3 months old and I had no choice.

I said the service was good as this was not a manufacturing defect or an issue as such with the phone.

PS: You can still go for the Redmi 4. But now, there are better devices out there.

Thanks. Budget devices are not meant to use Globally anyway

Play Music (currently using it) - confusing interface. Add to library sometimes doesn't create offline copy. Stations don't always sync completely (and some songs stream instead). The "automagically" created mixes aren't to my liking often.
I think for anyone who does not download the music (like me) Google Music is great. Amazing content, great integration across devices and a very clean interface. I have it on my phone, laptop and fire tv stick

Thanks for correcting me on this. Apologies to Flipkart.

Anyone here use the LG G6? A number of reviews online seem to suggest the India model has poor cameras. Any truth to this. And how good is the battery life. I'm a heavy user and considering getting one to replace my S7 edge. Probably not a great idea but just thinking about it.

Hey,

I bought one for my girlfriend and trust me she couldn't forgive me for gifting a phone with such a messy camera (contrary to what the foreign reviews suggested) in today's time.

Also, one fact:

With the last update recieved on phone, the cameras are performing way better than they originally did. Not at S8/+ or Note8 levels, but, at 75% capacity.

I'd suggest wait for One Plus 5T.

I have the v20 and i guess it's the same camera on the G6 as well. Can't find fault with the camera. Could you post a few links of the G6 cam reviews?

By any chance was she taking pics with the wide angle cam?

My wife is using a G6 since a few months now. camera is pretty good. If you use main camera and object is moving it does take time to click photo but just tap to focus and it will click pics instantly. Model number is H870DS.
