Only the camera app is custom application - they had to create one because of the mostly useless "bothie" feature. Rest seems to be stock Android.

Vidyut, have you used an Oreo smartphone? Look at this screenshot - the bottom right hand side corner.

I have many unread messages in Whatsapp and one unread message in Facebook Messenger. But instead of showing the number of unread messages, it is showing a greenish blue dot. When I click on Whatsapp app and go back to main screen, the dot goes away - even though I have unread messages.

Is this the way it is supposed to be?

I can disable these notification dots - but when I do that, app icons don't show any activity updates (new messages, number of messages etc)

Yup my Nexus 5X runs on Oreo now. That's my backup phone after I got the Lg G6.

The notification dots are the new way for notifications. The way to use them effectively is to long press the icon that has the dot and you see a snapshot of all the unread notifications.

Opening the app will remove the dot as it thinks you have attended to the notification.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Trying to migrate from a Redmi Note 3 to Moto G5 plus. The Android M on the Redmi does not support Motorola Migrate app. A quick check on the web doesnt show any quick way out of this restriction on the Redmi side.

Help, pls

So the N8 auto updated itself when I left it to charge.

So much for avoiding the update till it would be rendered bug free...
Mine must be the shortest 7.0 experience for an Android user. Went from 6.0 to 7.0 only 10 days ago between the S5 and N8.

Tried Zapya? I could move most files and apps from RN3 to HTC U11.

Installed Lawnchair recently and configured to see dots on the apps. Tried this trick yesterday and voila it worked as you described. Nice feature!!

Not exactly wow but pretty impressive keeping in mind the screen brightness.

It is the effect of the Battery Saver which I see you have enabled, I think. My Nexus 5 can go 3-4 hours after Battery Saver kicks in at 5% (which is what I have it set to activate at).

But as far as I can remember it progressively shuts down things that are considered as drain on battery - data/background sync, GPS/location services etc. - to extend battery life.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hey, Oreo is not so bad after all. With Google Maps ON, when you press the 'Home' button and open another app, the Maps show as picture in picture.

I'm even getting used to those notification dots - they are less stressful than the before. Now there is no 'pressure' on me to check 20 emails or 90 new whatsapp messages right away

Wow, that's brilliant. Waiting for the oreo update to hit the moto z play. Wonder why its taking motorola so long considering their versions are near stock android anyway.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Is there any phone that has Dual 4G Volte support , not stand by? With Jio and Airtel having Volte support, I'm looking for such a phone. Read that Oppo R11 has that, but it's not available in India.

Surprised! Is that the new Galaxy Note 8? If so is it Indian version or was it purchased somewhere else?
As far as I know Oreo update for Note8 will be released in 2018 only. Some customers would be given the update early but that is still restricted to US, Korea and not India. I have the US Version and I still am running on the Nougat (got a minor update 2 days ago though)

TA 1004 is the model number of Nokia 8 - not Note 8
