So looks like Google is replacing Android Market with Play Store. Weird name for an app store.

One company, one store: Why Google axed Android Market for Google Play

The Google Market app no longer works & is removed from the phone.

Has anyone else got this update?
My market was automatically updated to Google play. Google market is no longer there. I bought a music album(20 new songs) for $0.25 and a Golf Extreme full game for $0.25 as a part of Google Play promotion. As discussed before, it is not only a market to purchase, its has inbuilt app to listen/watch/read. An all in one store. I listened to music as soon as i bought it without going to media player or google music to play it. Pretty nifty i would say.

Do take advantage of their 7 day promotion(now 5 days) and get some neat apps, music and movies for as low as 25 cents. Today's movie for rent is Vicki, Cristina Barcelona, a puzzle (Quell Reflect) and Own the Night album by Lady Antebellum. Apart from these, there are some games(eg: NFS HP, Asphalt6) and apps(eg: Soundhound, Biz Calender) for 49 cents.

Any update on the Mac software for Samsung Androids?
I am really keen on getting one, but I need something that I can sync and update through the Mac.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hello Friends,
I need your help if a weird issue I'm facing with an App issue. I downloaded and installed an app directly from an APK. This is a paid App and wanted to try it before buying it. I know i could return it and get my money back, but found the APK easily so installed it instead.
The issue is that when I remove the App from the Settings->Applications, the App still shows as Purchased in the Google Play Store. If i try to install, I get Signature error saying that I haven't purchased it. When I install it back, the GPS (Google Play Store) detects that it is installed, but Updates fail saying that I haven't purchased it.

Can anyone tell me how to get GPS to see that I have removed it and now want to purchase it??

P.S: I tried logging into GPS from the PC and after linking my account it still says that the App is 'Purchased'.

How do you get the Google play store on a rooted galaxy s running custom ROM? Does it change automatically or you need to download it from somewhere?

Market got updated to Play Store by itself on my rooted Xperia Neo V with stock ROM. However that didn't happen on my wife's Blade running CM7.

I think rooting doesn't affect the ability to receive those updates as long as you run on stock ROM. The problem happens when you are on a custom ROM.

Now how do we get over it? Is there a .apk file available for the play store on the net?

I don't think so.

When I opened Market y'day to download an app, the Market automatically changed to Google Play Store. My LG P500 is running on PerfectPeso v2.2

You may try rebooting your phone and then opening the market, to see if it works or not.

Exactly, I run custom firmware (MIUI) and Market automatically changes to Play Store yesterday. No issues whatsoever.

Brilliant. After HTC its good to see Samsung following the suit soon after. However I am worried about one thing. Will the G version get ICS at the same time like ohers or will it even get it? Since samsung is selling the g version by the name of S2 only I do not think they will refuse ICS to the g version users. I just hope Samsung will take care of us.

Update: Samsung confirmed on their twitter account that rumours of S2 getting ICS on March 10 is false. I guess we will have to wait a bit more. But I am getting a feeling that the update is just around the corner.
