Is there anyway to run pure android on a Galaxy Note? Ive seen the various custom roms but most of them are having their own package of apps with it which utilises battery and memory.
Is there a way I can get pure android onto my phone just like the google phones? I hate the touchwiz and other bloatware Samsung gives with its phones :

Install stock firmware from samfirmware.com.
Root the phone
Uninstall the unwanted apps thru CWM script or titanium backup.

Wow. Thanks a lot.
does this allow us to install default ICS too on the note or only gingerbread?
Are there going to be any warranty issues with this?if so can it be flashed back to the samsung version?

Warranty will be void. But to can always flash the original firmware with which the phone came with and give it for warranty claim, should the situation arise.

Check samfirmware.com for the firmwares available for the note.

No, i am not in CUG. I looked into XDA and other android forums. I have not come across any resolution on this issue.

Try with a different sim card?if it only shows up with your current sim card its not a handset problem

Samsung chaps are quite clever these days. Simply flashing the stock firmware wont do it. SGS2 comes with a Flash counter which keeps a record of how many times a kernel or firmware has been flashed be it through recovery or through odin. Only way to reset the flash counter is through a usb jig. So if you are prepared to kiss your warranty good bye then only flash a firmware/root.

I am presuming here that the Note also comes with the flash counter. Galaxy R has it too.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi all, please welcome the new guy.

Well, here I am, a confirmed Nokia user side-grading from a Nokia N8.

I just got a Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 this evening (1st May 2012) as an early birthday gift.

Main reason for upgrading:
1) Requirement for a larger screen. The N8, while a beautiful piece of hardware, has a screen that is ust plain too small for my regular uses - reading and browsing. Could have got a tablet, but I am not willing to carry two devices. Plus, tablets are far too large for regular use for a person in my line of work.
2) Jaded with Symbian. It's a solid OS, but there's just no excitement.
3) My particular N8 (one of two we have) is very prone to crashes. The other one seems rock-solid: mine will crash without rhyme or reason.
4) Want to try something new in terms of phone OS and capabilities.

5) Last but Most Important: 'Coz I can!!

So I expect I will be keeping a close eye on this and related threads for the future, till the bug strikes again.

Thanks in advance for all your support.

NPP

Wow, how does one reset this counter - Samsung would be surprised if they get to know my SG3 has been flashing roms like nobodys business

pragya, may I humbly request you to rename the app from 'Vehicle mileage tracker' to 'Vehicle Mileage Tracker'? The small 'm' and 't' somehow looks odd to me

I'll let you know my inputs on the app down the timeline

+1 to that. Also add an apt logo rather than the cabin picture. Otherwise a useful app with simplicity. Keep going
