@F150; It was not an issue for GB. S-off was straight forward and then when I went to GB it was also totally painless. In a way the joker in the pack is the bootloader unlock provided by htc. Revolutionary.io seems to have stopped S-off cracks. Dinc2 is one of the very few with both available. I think it is the ICS group which has gone crazy. Strictly bootloader unlock is not as good as S-off but it allows you to root the phone.

I do not like the Samsung Interface and I will use htc just for the sense front end. Also, I fins Samsung's too plasticky. A year ago I had Samsung i5510 & Epic4G. Now it is Wildfire S and Incredible2. People have even cracked the latter to use a RUIM card!

Planning to take my first Android smart phone. Shortlisted Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3.
Here are some points why I like both the devices.

Galaxy Note
1) Bigger Screen - Advantage and disadvantage as well.
2) Better Camera and video recording (as per the reviews)
3) Much better battery backup
4) S pen feature (although I will rarely use it)

Galaxy S3
1) Much better UI and touch interface
2) Sleek and handy
3) Latest hardware - Quad core

Here's the price
Note - 32,700
S3 - 37,000

Kindly let me know. Planning to get the phone this week.

Both your options corresponds to different league. Note is a no-competitor device, but S3 for sure has other options like One X. If you're planning to use S-Pen often and if you love the big screen feel, go for Note otherwise decide between S3/One X. I'd suggest have a look at both physically from the shop and then arrive at a decision.

I think you should go for S3 if the few extra thousands are not a big deal. I think for the tasks an average guy does on phone both will suffice. If money is not an issue go get the S3.

P.S - From where are you getting this price for S3 ?

Thanks dude. I checked out both in person. S3 looks super cool but at 37k? Is it worth that much? Where exactly in Kumaranasan Nagar? I have a house there which I gave it for rent.

Thanks but is it worth spending 37k? Am not a gadget freak and have been using BB for 6 years. Thought its high time to upgrade to an Android device.

Size is not a major issue as you start getting used to it. I wanted to buy Note when I was stopped by a developer that I should wait and buy SGS3. SGS3 has a quad core processor and Note has a dual core, so its almost double in SGS3.

Yes, processor is one advantage that I feel. Now little towards S3.

This deal was available only on that day, This news was initially broken by me only and I am one of those fortunate one's who was able to book at that price.

But negative is that they are making me wait till 18th for delivery. I am planning to pay the extra cost of 3.5k and pick it up today only. Please let me know what you think, should I wait or pick it up today only?

You stand to save 3.5k if you wait for about 10-12 days more. In case they don't deliver, you'll get your refund after which you can pick up the one which is priced 3.5k more. Waiting for 10 days won't hurt much, will it?

Note is a unique device, there is no competition so far. As pointed out earlier the screen size is both the negative as well as the positive aspect about the Note. No need to be worried about usability,you will get used to the size after a week. If you are inclined towards S3, check out HOX as well before you finalize.

Guys, think I will stick with Note. y wife really liked the note and the S pen apps. Let me know if I should stick with this or go ahead with S3. Also,the extra 5k makes me feel as if am shelling out a lot for phones since I aint a gadget guy.
