I have consumed my 3G balance on Airtel(Prepaid)/Redmi Note 3. And now, I just want 4G balance to be consumed. So need to tune the device to use only 4G data OR nothing.

Please advise.
Type *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer. (don't copy this, type it yourself).

Then open phone information 1/2 according to the sim slot you're using for the data sim and select LTE only in the drop down box.

But do note that you can't place or receive calls in this mode on airtel. So switch to LTE/GSM when you need to call.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

7.1.1 released for Nexus 6P and 5X.

The restart option is finally there!

Not sure what the other improvements are.

Guys,

What's the cheapest nexus or Google phone I can get my hand on which I can hold on to for the next 2-3 years without lag/upgrade issues.

I am no good with this whole rooting and flashing thing, so I want to move to one of these which will keep things going for me for the substantial future.

Dual Sim is important.

Dual sim and Nexus can't happen, unfortunately.
Apart from that, the rather costly Pixel is the best choice for now, as it is their latest and greatest.
The cheapest would be the 5X I should think. Still only a year old, pretty good performance and camera, rocking 7.1.1 already, and with a host of cool official and unofficial accessories available. However, as the Nexus lineup is no more, it remains to be seen how much love the 5X and 6P still get.

If you want an inexpensive phone which runs stock android and has dual SIM, why not consider one of the Motorola phones?

They have had a good track record so far when it comes to updates, and hopefully they will continue to do so.

Check out the latest flagship killer the One Plus 3T, the internet is buzzing with this newly launched phone. It has a dual sim, 64/128 gb capacity, 6gb ram and the latest Snapdragon 821 processor which should satisfy what you are looking for. Its available on Amazon for around 30 thousand.

Cheers

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have a google nexus 4 rooted and flashed with AOSP Nougat 7. I wanted to do some cashless transaction by using USSD code *99#. But am getting an error code 538.
Though I am able to use network related USSD code *111#.
I have Vodafone postpaid connection.
I tried *99# in some of my friends mobiles who are on Vodafone and it is working flawlessly. Am I facing this error because of non-stock android?
Called up Vodafone care and the customer care executive had no idea about *99#.
Is anybody else facing the same issue?

Re: Jio SIM on RN3?

Can we use Jio SIM on Redmi N3?

The streetside Jio hawker was looking for some jio activation app on play store, and he couldn't find the same on my RN3. He said, Jio may NOT be supported on my device.

Nexus and Dual Sim don't go together.

Your best options are OnePlus 3 or Moto Z play.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Did anyone manage to buy the OP 3t ? I logged in at 2.30pm yesterday and it was already sold out on Amazon. Maybe would now wait for Jan 1st - nice dated number to buy a phone.

Did you search in the play store for the Jio App? My Jio If i remember it right. That generates a code for your phone which is to be used for the Jio sim.

Wasn't it available only for Prime members yesterday? The general launch is tomorrow right? I still wish they had a mem card option in the 64gb version! Paying 5k just for an additional 64gigs is killing me

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My dad wants to buy a basic smartphone for his daily usage. The requirements are:
1. Good battery life.
2. Screen size of 5 inch would be great. Bigger screens are a pain to carry all the time.
3. 4G enabled.
4. Internal memory of 32GB.

Budget is as low as reasonably achievable and will be preferred if it is below 10k.
