Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

My BB 9300, is giving some battery trouble lately. Earlier It had OS5 and the battery life was decent. Last month, I saw the battery has a little swell, hence I replaced it with a new Battery and at the same time did an update to OS 6. Since then phone switches off when the battery meter is at 50% and won't restart without wall charger! OS 6 is a battery eater but because of this issue, my phone is almost attached to the wall charger.

Guys, Any inputs on this? I have done a total wipe and reloaded the OS again. But the problem still persist. Is there any other way to caliberate the Phone / Battery meter?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

@roamer: try different builds of OS6. Also hope you have set "2G" mode only and not 2G+3G which is a huge battery drainer. BBs suck on 3G :(

Regarding the switching off at 50% not much of an idea. Could be a faulty battery making the software show faulty readings perhaps?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

@roamer, I get a feeling the new battery isn't original and does not work up to the mark. You may consider getting it checked at a service centre.

I have a question regarding batteries. I have a bold 9780 and am wondering how can I get replacement batteries at good prices? Ebay shows a large range of prices and all of them declaring their products as original. How to differentiate the original from fake?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Price point for the full touch device [Z10?] would be in the high 30s maybe even in the 40s.

BB also will reveal new data plans and introduce carrier billing for apps

Oh and ranbir kapoor has been signed up as the brand ambassador

Not quite - all that Lenovo's CFO said in an interview in Davos is that the company is looking at mobile business acquisitions and he mentioned RIM as a possible candidate.

He didn't say that they have bid or that they are in talks or anything concrete. RIM refused to comment.

If a deal does materialize, it will likely face significant regulatory hurdles considering how paranoid the U.S. and Canada are about Chinese vendors in critical technology areas.

Qwerty will be launched later on. Right now only the full touchscreen will be launched.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Guys, I am new to Blackberry. Have a model 9300 curve 3g with me. Not been using blackberry services since my wifi at home suffices my need for internet.

The current OS is V5 (out of the box). Was trying to update it through PC via the blacberry desktop manager but, it did not go through. Got a message saying that I need to activate blackberry services toupdate OS.

Wanted to check with the experts whether this is a complusion or is there a way to update via the wifi at home.

Cheers

Follow this link and download the latest OS.

And use this to flash the OS. Make sure you take a complete backup before flashing.
