Do go and hold one side by side with another tab, youll be able to see what im on about, really.
I have decided to wait for the Asus Infinity to be released April end is what they say. Let me get hold of someone who can source it for me from there by then Thanks for the suggestion. If the Infinity is out of my budget, I would go ahead and buy the Sony one. The Sony is probably very close to what i need than any other tablet in the market barring the Infinity. Thanks again.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Hello All,

I got my self a BB Playbook today morning. A relative got it as a gift from his son from US but uncle isnt a techy person and wanted to sell it off. he had not even opened the packaging. Its a 16GB BB Playbook with an Inovice of $212. I paid 8k for the same.

Happy with the bargain

Now i need to understand a few things from BB Playbook users.

1. How is the BB PB to use with out a BB Phone? Since i dont use a bb.
2. Has anyone tried the skype thing on BB? how do i download skype on my blackberry playbook? - Skype Support Network
3. How is the app market? well loaded?
4. Can i check emails and all using wifi? Or i need to use BB Bridge?

Thanks.

The best one I have seen so far which balances being a phone and a tab, while being small and big enough for both purposes is the older galaxy tab, p1000 I think.
I think now youll only get it in grey or used.
Why its even better is samsung is still giving updates for it.
In gaffar a packed unit was going for 17k about 5 months back.

But do think about using a tab as a phone, since everyone I know who bought one has now shifted to a seperate standalaone phone.
One guy even dug out his 1100 and put a basic prepaid in it, while using the tab for everything else.

A. I don't have BB phone and never felt need for one. Playbook doesn't need BB phone.

2. Has anyone tried the skype thing on BB?
A. Skype video chatting doesn't work on Playbook. I don't know of any way to have video chat on my Playbook.

3. How is the app market? well loaded?
A. My Windows Phone market is overpopulated compared to Playbook market

4. Can i check emails and all using wifi? Or i need to use BB Bridge?
A. Sure. Just use Wi-Fi to surf and check emails.

If you have more queries then please feel free to ask

Thanks a lot for your response. The PB self updated to 2.0. I setup basic stuff and will play along now.

I shall be firing a few PM's to you time to time if stuck. Wish there was a way to use Skype video on this. front facing 3MP camera would make a lot of things simpler while on the go.

BB hope you listening

Thanks once again.

I think Dell Streak suits you the best. At 5inch, it's an ultra compact tablet. Bargain heavily with a shopkeeper and you might be able to get it for ~15k. Though be advised that it might not be upgradable beyond Froyo (Android 2.2).

Glad that I helped.
Please don't PM but ask here no matter how stupid a question might sound like. I benefited a lot by reading posts here and there on T-BHP. I want others to benefit from us too

Hey h@r$h@l congrats on the play book .

I to got myself one in February and i must say after the recent price correction , its an amazing VFM tab specially considering the 16GB one. I wanted a 32GB model but it was out of stock and hence had to go in for a 64GB one.

As most of the questions have already been answered , i would basically say that the app world was actually rubbish before the 2.0 update came along . But now with the android support, you can do so much more with the PB .

However you wont find many great apps on the appworld itself , but there are 100's of apps that you can download to your laptop and "Sideload" to your PB .

They have some pretty amazing apps . Do try out Real Football 2011 , you will be pleasantly surprised.

Also Checkout Good E-Book Readers - We have the latest Electronic Readers, Your source for the latest E-Reader Sales and Support .

They have a separate playbook apps section , with some pretty amazing apps. But not all their apps work .

If you need any help side-loading apps to your playbook feel free to PM me anytime

PB has pin probably to pair it with your BB phone. I am not sure if you can chat on BBM through this.

Video chat is possible across platforms. Try through this link . It worked for me. Can chat upto 3 callers. So total 4 including yourself.
