Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Is there a USB port on the Playbook where one connect TATA Photon broadband for accessing internet on the move?

Edit: I just found out that it has a Micro USB port. Can one connect a TATA Photon on the Micro USB of the Playbook?

no you cannot.

wifi or tethering with a smartphone are your choices for data.

tethering is free if with a BB

So what is the offer that micromax is giving with Tata Photon? I am thinking of the same; but a little confused.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Tablet owners,
Need a bit of suggestion. Planning to opt for an android based tablet, have narrowed down to Samsung Galaxy 620 and the recently launched Galaxy Tab2. From a price prespective, there is a difference of 2000 Rs (on flipkart).

On the outright, it seems better to go for the 620, with stereo headset, a free bluetooth dongle & few additional features (led light, autofocus, etc). But the Tab 2 has the new OS I believe. And it's cheaper too. Request your suggestions on the same.

P.s. Any other android tablet (Samsung/other brands) I should keep in the consideration set that can give the above two a good run for their money?

ninja

You can go for the Ainol Novo 7 Elf II which has a Dual core Cortex A9 based CPU and 1GB RAM and already running Android 4.0. It is available for $149.99 from spemall dot com. Its a fantastic value for money proposition (will cost half of the Sammy and has better specs!)

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

I might place the order for my first tablet today thru flipkart, My poor city doesn't has a single store who could store a Samsung Tablet, asked a samsung phone dealer and he says the distributor is stuck with older models and has not taken stock of these new ones and its not available anywhere in the city.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100
(Titanium Silver) Wi-Fi, 3G, 16 GB

This includes everything I would expect from a 20K tablet.

please let me know if it has any issues for which it should be avoided however I am quite sure its worth every penny, I may be wrong though.

Yes that's what I think, waiting to order it, however the price now is dropped by Rs.600 and is Rs.19300/- so waiting a night was worth it.
may be I wait another day and grab it for 19k/- LOL.

You can enable a Wifi hotspot with an existing android phone 2.3.3 and above and browse the internet through it, nothing additional required.

With BB Playbook announcing OS 2.0, enabling compatibility with Android Apps @14K for 16GB, there is no place else to look.

To the playbook users,

Is it worth buying a blackberry 8520 just for the sake of using it as a remote for playbook?

The funbook can connect to the internet via a Photon+ connected on the microUSB through a cable.
