Dealer Sales & Service Heads have already attended Training for Duster and have seen the vehicle. Renault will be sending the vehicles alloted to the dealers from 20th June. Renault has also given dealer targets for the 1st day sale ie. 1st July. Rest assured the launch is in last week of June.

If the news on Renault variants and pricing are true, then may it is a case of Renault not wanting to blink first. The 85 BHP 2WD Duster would go head on with EcoSport when launched. Since the latter is scheduled to be launched only in early 2013, Renault might want to wait till they see Ford's positioning and then think of bringing the more powerful 4wd variant. Renault would then have a bread and butter volumes model (aka 2WD if it is priced lower than the Ford that is..) and then think of skimming the market with the 4wd positoned at par or slightly above the 2wd EcoSport.

Of course, this is assuming that Ford will be priced beyond the Renault. If it is the other way round, may be we'll see a cut price 2WD model and the 4WD launched at the launch price of 2wd.

Too many ifs and buts though :-D

Wrote to Renault through their 'request for brochure' link. The lady replied saying it will be launched in 2nd half of 2012.
Sent the specifications which are same as listed on their website.

Now am seriously watching this thread! Please keep us posted on any updates you get from the dealer. I'm sure you are excited will probably make at least a weekly call to them!

The Renault Duster is really goodlooking,
Local manufactures should be aware of this.Depending on how the product is priced and how well it is loaded with features this could be disaster for other car manufactures with offers of the same class.
Is there any vehicle that we could compare currently to the Duster.Excluding the ecosport.how about the Premier Rio ?

Rio, definitely not. Rio is much smaller than the Duster and i've seen both. I can't think of any immediately except the Ertiga given Ertiga's price tag and flexibility. Maybe even the Xylo to some extent. Hmm...nothing really out there to do an apples to apples comparison.

@Buxx - Size wise, the length visually seemed to be something in between a Scorpio & Safari. The height, especially as it slopes at the rear, seems less than the Scorpio. I'm not comparing numbers here. Just my visual impression.

Size-wise, the Duster is pretty much equal to the Yeti, except that the Duster maybe slightly taller (atleast looks so). I hope it doesn't equal the Yeti price-wise I think that Duster has better presence than the Yeti, especially when viewed from the front.

I saw one red camouflaged with black stickers at Chrompet Chennai two days back at 5.pm under heavy traffic i was following him in my IVTEC AT he managed to drive in ease with great speed. For the first time i am seeing this vehicle it was definitely BIG, bigger than Rio or Yeti exactly equal to Scorpio but slightly low in height to be exact you can compare with X1 & even CRV to some extent.

To be frank i could not follow him too long as he was squeezing in between the traffic in great speed because of good pick up and the driver had a commanding view of the road because of the height and was very confident while negotiating the traffic this vehicle should be petrol as the engine was silent.

Frankly if this vehicle comes out under 10laks i bet its going to be a great competitor to all medium SUV & MUV the one thing it lacks is the third row seat IMO its better not to squeeze a small baby seat like in Ertiga or Scorpio for sales gimmick but to have loads of space for your camping trip I definitely love this vehicle dimension to be correct for a family of 5 for both City drive and long Outdoor trips.

From the point of style view, the front end looks great the side OK rear slightly tad not to the current style but surely not bad we can take it over time. Overall it looks like an no nonsense, slightly rugged and macho go anywhere vehicle i love it hope to book 4x4 soon for my Himalayan expedition.

A day doesnt go by when I regret not having gone to the Auto expo to catch a look of the Duster in flesh!
Especially so, when my Boss had graciously offered to do that in office time! ( one for the team, eh?! )
