Maruti alto!
The new alto has made a mess with a mix & match.

There are no low slung hatchback cars in the market except figo, imagine a female population with an average height of 5'2" and the market leader withdrawing a bestseller low height hatch with a moron of a car!

I don't know what kind of research goes into making these cars? Maybe they are just making decisions in the boardroom.

re: Resurrection: Which discontinued car do you want on sale again & why?

1.) MS Zen ( Pre - facelift, viz. the Jelly bean design ):- For its trendy looks, compact dimensions, great engine and handling. The face-lift, which was done prior to its discontinuation, IMO, lost the appeal of the original Jelly bean theme.
2.) Premier 118 NE :-- For its ride, decent interior space and gear box.
3.) Standard Rover 2000:-- A car that was ahead of its times !!! A great design let down by poor
performance.
4.) Contessa:-- For its comfort.
5.) Peugeot 309:- A compact city sedan, know for its excellent ride.

Of course, all the above cars need to have modern safety and other features along with compliance of the emission norms, in order to hit the road again.

Most of us will agree to this. But i feel the front seats of uno are very comfy compared to figo.
There is right amount of support (thigh, lateral) in right places for fatigue free driving.

anyone remember this car? - the standard 2000?
http://www.roverklubben.se/en/indian...dard-2000.html
i was enthralled by this car in my childhood days for its uniqueness (scarcity on roads) and distinctive shape. would love to see the rebirth of this car (would be similar to the large focus hatch i guess).

MY FAVOURITE TRIO :
1. The petrol OHC with better interiors & a sturdier body for the CITY.
2. The diesel Skoda OCTAVIA with a dsg box & crdi engine for the HIGHWAYS.
3. The Mitsubhisi Pajero SFX with a modern crdi diesel engine for the HILLS & VALES.

I am posting for the second time in this thread, but, I believe Jaguar E-type & XJ220 should be modernized & launched again. I may not buy these beauties, but these are worth the drool .

NE 118 (With a rust proof body sheet & larger block)- Simply coz of superb ride and performance.
Contessa (with more powerful engine) - For the premium feel and muscle
MS Zen - with spruced up interiors and features for its killer performance (It will definitely be a killer again)

The Fiat Adventure had a diesel engine IIRC 1.9. As long as there is a Fiat badge on a car it will never be able to sell to the Indian consumer. I love all Fiat products since the Uno, the Indian arm is let down big time by a general distrust in the brand, many reasons, search various Fiat threads on this forum.

Maybe if Fiat get's this

2013 Palio Adventure and Adventure Dualogic have a decent equipment list for the Brazilian market. It is higher from the ground, has a heavy-duty suspension, is shod with mixed use tyres (Pirelli Scorpion ATR), embodies robustness and strength, and finally, guarantees light off road fun. It features, in addition to standard items, the E-Torq 1.8 16V (130 hp w/gasoline and 132 hp w/ethanol) engine, enhanced air-conditioning, Trip Computer B, compass and longitudinal and transversal inclinometer, gray finish on the dashboard centre, open doors and trunk indicators, sump guard and a switchblade-style key with remote control for opening and closing doors. Improvements include changes to the central dashboard, which gets new air vents, some electronic equipment improvements.

Among the options is the Locker (limited slip differential), partial leather covered seats, rear power windows with one touch and anticrush functions, rear parking sensors, subwoofer, remote controls for car audio mounted on the steering wheel and steering wheel with butterfly gear switches/paddle shift (for the Dualogic version).

re: Believe in rebirth? Which old car would you bring back on sale & why?

I would like to bring just this one car on sale:
1. Opel Astra

Why?
Opel Astra:
a. Typical teutonic battle tank like build quality
b. Glides over while annhilating the potholes and rough patches that our Indian roads can dish out
c. Drives like on rails, awesome high speed control and stability
d. Highway cruiser, can easily cruise above 140 KMPH effortlessly
e. Seats both back and front can put a couch/sofa to shame
f. Most comfortable car for family, minimal cabin noise, well controlled NVH levels
g. Suspension, the best I have seen so far in this car segment, front double wishbone and rear multi link with gas dampers, only seen in the likes of Mercedes, heavy SUVs, etc.
h. I would have liked its 1.6 litre petrol engine to be tuned better for more power like maybe 135 to 150 bhp. Diesel engine should have been Opel's very own twin turbo diesel engine.

re: Believe in rebirth? Which old car would you bring back on sale & why?

My list would be topped with the, wait for it,

wait for it,

Tata Sierra 4X4 with a better engine (of course). That car, or SUV had some real 'beef'. Also it is the first car I ever drove and I still love it. It can hold itself very easily in the same garage as some more 'modern' SUV's.

The Fiat Adventure still makes my heart skip a beat when I see it around.

The old Palio 1.6, Opel Astra and the 2nd Gen Lancer are again on my wishlist.

The 118NE was also a nice car.

re: Believe in rebirth? Which old car would you bring back on sale & why?

I am not as wise as most here but I would still love to see a modern take on:
Tata Estate - since that is one segment I truly believe in and I feel India had now matured enough to handle estates they really are spacious and elegant compared to a ghastly MUV or soft roader
Contessa - I'd love to see one with some redone suspension etc to sort out handling and a new engine. If they could launch it at 25 odd lakhs, with the right marketing, they might have a winner on their hands "the Indian muscle car" at, if you think about it, an affordable price. Again I stress on right marketing. If they get that right it could be a premium niche product that will succeed where others like the evo x, 350 z failed (not saying they are the same but they were the closest example I could come up with)
Honda Civic - I don't believe an explanation is in order. :P
