The rear wheel arches show a huge gap. Or is it just a perception? I some how feel that the wheel size seems a size lower than what it needs to have.

From the Crash Pics a couple of points are cleared.
The vehicle has good height and road presence, Possibly it will have an Air Intake like that of Scorpio. Tailgate mounted Spare Wheel looks a possibility from the Bulge and even without the rear bumper no visibility of a spare wheel underneath. And the rear window comes with a Quarter Glass which suggest that the Window can roll down completely even though picture suggests otherwise.

Heard they are working on an AMT for the Quanto and is close to release.

News is that this was supposed to be released before the Celerio release but project was delayed significantly.

I think it will be a good looking mini suv (at least compared to the Mahindra Quanto anomaly)
Me liking the sloping roofline and the tail-lamps cluster. This should/will definitely be a more proportionate styled vehicle.

Finally Mahindra S101 taking a vehicle shape. Though in the images the design looks proportionate, we need to see a side view of the car to get a correct judgement.

You are being too kind, IMO (no offense to M&M owners here).

I just could not get myself to buy one of those mutant looking vehicles from their stable even though one of them (the Scorpio) had all the requisites I was looking for: AT, decent price point, GC & an oil burner.

Hopefully the S101 looks promising looks-wise and if equipped with an AMT, would be a USP for me.

The front of this seems to be a similar copy from their proven XUV formula, the bonnet angles, the curve on bonnet, lights. The bumper hasnt been revealed, so we can expect it to be in the similar lines.

The rear might have a boot mounted spare tire, so we see plastic covering on the boot lit.
The middle part looks more like it has been lifted from a Quanto.
So probably they might name it like "XQOO" or "SOO" taking S which lies between X and Q

The have also managed a scoop on the various petrol engines serving on the suv. These will be 1.2 Liter to 1.6 Liter mills with 1.2L one being a 3-cylinder derived from 4-cylinder 1.6lL mill.

More pictures of the S101 have been put up on the internet. The shot of the interior shows that the car has a dash-mounted gear lever.
