Re: Renault Pulse Upgrade or a New Offering

Thank you for the clear pictures!

This is Mahindra's upcoming sub-4m compact SUV which carries the codename S101. It exhibits clear resemblance to the test mules in this thread.

This one looks closer to the production model, thanks to actual tail lights (instead of simple round decoy units).

Upcoming Mahindra vehicles are commonly spotted in this area, thanks to their vehicle development centre (Mahindra Research Valley) located in Mahindra City, which also does much of the testing and fine-tuning that takes place before production.

It didn't look like a Mahindra as the tail lamps were twin coin shaped lamps on either sides. One break lamp and one night lamp. Further the indicator was a rectangular one below the stop/tail lamp. I also managed to glance at the front and the logo seemed that of a Renault and hence this post.

Re: Renault Pulse Upgrade or a New Offering

This looks like the mini (or micro) SUV from Mahindra.

Look at the irony - got reported as a pulse upgrade on this forum and a camouflaged Tata Kite hatch on another forum.

Mahindra - pls note people just think it is another hatch (on steroids perhaps)

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

XUV 300 for the new mini-SUV, huh?

Like the XUV 500 was inspired by the Cheetah, which animal is inspiring the XUV 300?

Any clues, Mahindra..

The article seems too speculative in nature. And for the author's information CUV does not mean either City or Compact, it is a popular term in some markets including United States where Monocoque Crossovers are referred to as CUVs or Crossover Utility Vehicles.

I had reported that my friend who saw this "car" upclose said this is the size of a hatchback. And with no spare tyres at the back, I would rather see it being called as a hatchback till the name is official.

And the size was confirmed by another bhp-ian calling it very close to being a hatchback.

Having personally seen this, it is only slightly larger than a Santro. More like an I 10. Definitely not a compact SUV size. The driver was sitting two or three inches more than me and I was on an Indigo. Mahindra would find it very difficult to sell it as any version of a SUV, compact or otherwise.

The third picture on my first post on the previous page would give a perspective on the height in terms of a Lorry. The same can probably be compared to other Tall Boys.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

The Quanto was a big failure in the Indian market, the primary reason being its awkward looks. Mahindra needs to learn and learn fast that no matter how practical or economical a car is, it still has to appeal to the consumer's eyes. If they can correct this problem in the S101, it is going to be success looking at the Ecosport's and Duster's sales figures. If it continues with the same awkward design language, they would be ending up with another dud.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

This is disappointing for me. All this while I thought this would be a smaller XUV, like the size of Vitara or little smaller than it. If this is something like a santro, or little bigger means the size of say Ritz? Then ive lost all the interest in this car. The rendered images were that of a smaller XUV. I find the size of Vitara/Yeti to be so much perfect. Theyre a perfect tourer, great to drive in the city too. I think until they official launch it, or we get to see pics without the camo, it would be a bit early to speculate anything.

Now reports come on the S101 - It will comparable be the size of Grand i10 -on stilts. Launch of this new crossover by around Diwali. Will be badged similar to the XUV.

Mahindra's S101 will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel engine options.

Quote:
The S101’s 1.2-litre diesel engine, will be a new three-cylinder that will be derived from the 1.6-litre diesel engine, that powers the Ssangyong Tivoli. This 1.2-litre diesel engine will churn out 80bhp of power and will be made available with a five-speed manual and automated manual transmission. Mahindra and Ssangyong have developed three new diesel engines and three petrol engines

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

On my way back from Adyar to Koyambedu, spotted this mini-SUV that seemed to me like the Mahindra one. It was very small, around the size of a grand-i10 maybe and as tall as a wagon-R. I was in a zen, so low, hence couldn't spot the interiors. Initially, it seemed like a Hyundai but on Comparing the photos here, i think it's the Mahindra mini-suv itself. It's got rear wipers, antenna on rear windshield but didn't have alloys. It picked up speed steadily.

Re: Scoop! Maruti XA Alpha (YBA) Compact SUV caught with camo

Just when the S Cross is just being launched, speculated to be Maruti's Compact SUV ( Vitara Brezza ), now seen testing in Chennai.
The next inline will be the XBEE (iM-4) that will start testing.
