I think only the AMT Nano version will find any takers. The manual version - dont think it has any chance against the Alto whatsoever. The Eon doesn't have an AMT version - yet. I am assuming 3.6 L is the OTR price ? If it is the OTR price- that may be an attractive choice for quite a few buyers.

Pricing is anyway a win for the Nano AMT as the Alto VXi is priced at 4.9L OTR here in Hyderabad.

There will be a gap in pricing but how much is what is awaited. If the gap is high then Alto is in trouble or else it is the Nano.

I feel that the Nano AMT will be around ~ 3.2 to 3.6L OTR.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Alto K10 is 4.7 lakhs OTR in Cochin. It felt too much of a compromise for me when looking for a car for wife. Hence spending more money and booked Celerio VXi AMT at 5.5 Lakhs OTR. If the Nano AMT is priced around 3.5 Lakhs OTR, the 2 lakhs price difference is alluring. I think the game would change, if and only if Tata delivers what they are promising, a proper car with comparable quality as to Maruti.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

The pricing should not be too much on the higher side given that the Nano Twist is currently running a discount offer of Rs.50,000/-.

While it may be an offer to clear inventory of the older version, it could also be to create space for pricing the new version attractively.

Too high a premium for the AMT may doom the sales charts.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

WOW WOW WOW !!!!

I LOVE that steering wheel.

Loved it in Zest. With the ridges for the thumb, the overall finish and feel of that steering. And the ease with ePAS. Really loved in Zest. And now it is in Nano !!
Yay!

And the Tata logo on the steering is Chrome plated. It just looked so cheap and incomplete on the current Nano.

The boot does look good. Glad they added 2 struts. Makes sense. And atleast it's not cost cutting.

But what blew me away is the AMT gear console & the MID.
DROOL ! (as an existing Nano owner)

I want! I want!

Really classy, upmarket feel. Perforated leather, chrome and plastics + rubber!
Sports mode!
Manual too.

Wifey wants too! (just learning on the Nano)

The MID is real nice too. MANY MANY features.

Would have LOVED: (nit-picking) - white backlit to the MID, full black dashboard (cut the glare) - Airbags, reverse sensor (optional).

That then makes it PERFECT as my full time city vehicle. & then maybe a Safari for the highways.

Currently top-end Nano v/s Alto difference is easily 1.5 lakhs. (top-end mind you.)

I think the same story will continue. Alto will be pricier by 1.3 & Celerio by 1.8 to 2 Lakhs easily.

TML will not use that word (God forbid) but this will be the cheapest Automatic ever.
& the top-end here comes with a bluetooth system and remote key locking as well. 4 speakers.

I am in line! Waiting!
Let's see what they quote for my Nano.
P.S. The 'Glade' is also under consideration. I am pretty sure Tata will use the AMT there too. And that will give me airbags in top-end. SO might wait it out for some time too if they don't quote nice.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

I tried booking the car online through the Tata motors website. I was able to add the car to the cart and perform checkout. However, when getting to billdesk, I got a message saying that the website is under update, transaction was not possible.
Did anyone try booking online?

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Looks like the journalists have been told to hold back from publishing their reviews until a specific date yet again! Otherwise, actual reviews should have come out by now.

Can anyone check on this issue?

That is standard process. The drives look to be in progress, but it seems to be in batches. Reviews would be allowed after the launch.

Team-BHP's official review will possibly come a bit after others publish, but you can be sure that it will be a comprehensive review.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Looking Good!! I think I'm gonna seriously consider exchanging my Nano for this, once I drive it to see if anything else is different. I'm glad I didn't give in to the temptation to go for the Twist when it came out last year!!!

Um, this isn't true at all. Every Tata model that comes with standard full wheelcaps has the rims painted black. It's the same with my Indigo, and the Indica, Vista and Manza. It's only the Nano that is an exception to this rule. I'm guessing that's due to the extreme cost cutting.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Early reviews indicate that the AMT version is helpful in the city, but this Nano is not a go-kart to go sliding around corners . It looks like the AMT version could have done with a slightly bigger engine. Apart from that, looks like very suitable for city driving, esp in today's traffic.

This one's better than the Zigwheels:

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Well, the interior looks outdated and cheap compared to the K10. Plus, tata reliability is still shoddy and unknown. Don't know if this will make a dent in K10 sales. The Nano has to be a much better product at a lower price to even compete.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the nano will set the sales chart on fire ! But, i am all for competition- because then it is a win win for us - the customers !
